Verizon: Moto X (second generation) Launch

Hello !

New to Android and this forum.

My initial question is ...

How do you close down apps that have been opened on my Moto X 2nd Gen?

.... sorry... converted iPhoneist

Welcome to the brighter side! :)

On the bottom of the screen, just click on the "double box" button right next to your "home" button. Then you can swipe to close individual apps, click to switch to a different app or close all apps at once.

Generally speaking, you never have to close apps on Android. The OS will intelligently close them as it needs to. Now some exceptions could be like if you are using navigation in maps or playing music in the background. You would need to manually close those apps to get them to stop.

Open recent apps [should be the right hand one of the three buttons at the bottom of the screen]. Drag the app you want to close off the right side of the screen.

Agreed on the surf to talk...until I just bought the Sony z3v. It shuts down ALL data (including text) while you talk. The manager at local verizon tried to tell me that a number of Android phones do it. I called BS and returned the phone. Avoid the Sony if you like to multi task!!!:-\

I don't know what's in the iPhones, but with only a single radio in the X, I don't see how a data CAN be sustained on a non-LTE call on Verizon.

It depends on how many(probably using wrong terminology here) channels the radio can handle at once. IPhones have always only been able to process one channel. On GSM networks, this is enough to have voice and data simultaneously because of the way GSM networks work. Cdma networks can only have either or.

HOWEVER, Android phones on Verizon have had radios capable of handling multiple channels sense 4g lte came about. All have been able to handle voice+3g and many can do voice+4g as well.
