Verizon Note 4 or ATT Note 4?

This is actually incorrect. Verizon's LTE phones come factory unlocked. AT&T phones come locked. Verizon LTE phones have GSM/CDMA chipset so it can be used on any network out of the box, including AT&T and T-Mobile. AT&T can't be used on Verizon or Sprint because it does not have CDMA.

So in reality Verizon is more open than AT&T in that their phones are unlocked and they are GSM ready.

try to put a Nexus 5 on Verizon's network. case closed.

Honestly, anyone who prioritizes having a Nexus isn't going to be on Verizon's network. But this thread isn't discussing nexus, and isn't even in the nexus forum.

So back to the topic at hand, It depends on what you are looking for, but if you want factory sim unlocked phones from the carrier then overall Verizon is the best choice. If you don't mind buying a phone that is sim locked then it doesn't really matter.

my point was Verizon is a closed proprietary network!

CDMA is proprietary, however, since volte is already deployed, you can get both voice and data over LTE on Verizon on any device that supports band 13 lte and volte, should a manufacturer decide to make one.

you don't have the choice and freedom of bringing any unlocked BYOD device. get it?

You can use any recent Verizon LTE phone with any sim out of the box because it's unlocked GSM ready.

AT&T and T-Mobile are locked out of the box and have requirements including grace periods and fully paid off to unlock and won't work on Verizon/Sprint. So you have more freedom with a Verizon phone.

Sure, but current pricing being pretty much equal, imo, Verizon is the better choice for those who want best overall coverage, even if it is close. Of course if Verizon doesn't get good coverage where you need it and att doe, then that is a different story.

Yeah but it is equal for most people and of the 2 evil corporations I prefer AT&T.

Who cares about more invisible free between carriers in the states.... Yes you could use a Verizon note 4 on t-mobile but no LTE.

Sure I understand. If you want to use any unlocked device then Verizon isn't the best option. Keep in mind though that if you want a note 4,the unlocked version might not contain usa lte radios. So sure you have freedom to byod, but there are limitations, depending on the device.

i like the choice and freedom to bring any device i want. i don't want to live under an evil authoritative totalitarian regime.

It's not just the states. Verizon is sim unlocked for any country.

Yes you can use LTE - you just have to change your apn settings, etc.

You can't use HSPA+ though - just HSPA.

Depends on the phone. The Verizon 5/5s/5c/6/6+ gets a number of international lte bands and the 5s/5c/6/6+ gets all usa lte bands used by att and tmobile. My note 3 can get 4glte on tmobile and att, though the latter is very limited.

But this isn't about the iPhone nor the right place about it so thus I could care less about iPhones. Generally phones bands is dependent on the carrier you buy it from

OMG 1 band..... Out of what? And only for T-Mobile

I rather go to sprint then ever touch Verizon unless I have to get Verizon for whatever reason.

That's the only band that matters right now! AT&T uses band 4 1700 mhz too!

700 mhz will change things in the future though!

Why would you rather use sprint when Verizon has the most reliable network in the country? I still have unlimited data though so I'm a little biased.

I don't like Verizon and how they operate in general..... I have friends with Verizon and I had AT&T and speed and connection is about the same if not a bit better with AT&T for me in nyc.

Verizon doesn't operate in the band 12 block A of the 700 mhz which is what they sold to t-mobile?

Yea the 700 mhz were sold on a different band but T-mobile hasn't built anything on it yet. Right now they only use band 4.
