Verizon offer FREE INC2 or X2

Quick question guys,

Does anyone know if I can do this if I got my phone through Best Buy or am I on the outside?

I bought my Fascinate in November from Best Buy and am wondering if I can go through Verizon for this warranty issue. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks for any help.

Yes. I got mine from Best Buy too. My Inc 2 will be here tomorrow, but I am skeptical at the moment. All I'm getting is the phone, battery, and cover, which also comes in three separate boxes. But to add more to it, they were out of regular covers so they're giving me an extended battery and cover for no charge. I was told to keep my Sammy charger and SD Card to use with the Inc2. I forsee a store return and switch.

Great. Thanks. I am really nervous about doing this because I loved my Fascinate but they just aren't doing enough to make it the phone it can be. The development on these forums has been great (roms, etc.) but I definitely would like something more stable (and preferably LTE).

I'm also wondering which rom I should flash to get back to the latest stock rom. I'm assuming I should do this before calling so if they ask any questions about the baseband I can answer correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

I got the Charge - delivered Monday - no SIM, battery, back cover etc. - today the SIM arrived minus the other stuff that would make receiving the SIM noteworthy. I'm guessing Verizon likes sending overnight FedX, but they could save some money by sending the stuff all at once - Plan on not receiving a battery, charger or back (Certified Like New phone) replacements don't come with anything but the phone front.

when you guys get a new phone is it reseting your contract for 2 years?

No. The way it was explained to me is that it was just as if I had taken a defective phone in and had it replaced with the same model. The only difference is that they are not handing out Fascinates until they can fix the issue with them.

No. From what I'm seeing with the Incredible 2, it out-does the Charge on paper. More RAM, 768 if I'm not mistaken, plus it just upgraded to Gingerbread. The only downside to the Incredible 2 is no Amoled screen, 4G, and a locked bootloader. It's only a matter of time before it's rooted and ROM's start being made for it though.

I called again today and had to do yet another factory reset and was asked all the same dumb questions as yesterday. Is there some magic word i need to use or do i have to get really nasty with them?

@Nytom30 What you need to do is 1. Make sure you're talking with a tech. 2. Tell the tech that this is a known issue and that they have a policy in place that states they are replacing fascinates with alternative replacements because there is no known fix for the issue at this time. 3. If they ask about the policy tell them all they need to do is open up infomanager and type in "Samsung Fascinate missing calls". That should bring up several results of wich the first one should be the one they need to look at.

This info was retrieved from the fascinate forums on verizon posted by a verizon tech. This is the method I used. It seems some techs will require you to jump through a few hoops. Some people are reporting that they were not required to jump through those hoops. Not the case in my situation . All I had to do was do a factory reset and tell them I did all of the OTA updates. Which I did (returned it to stock .... eeewww).

I asked about the Charge and tech said they were out and not sure when they would have them to offer as replacement. No biggie. I just thought I would try. No LTE in my area yet anyway. So I opted for the Inc2 because I wanted to try something different, plus I hear good things about it. So I get it thurs. Loved the Fascinate but time to move on. Thanks to all the people who made this phone a pleasant experience!

Oh man...hope that is just an isolated case. Seems like the SIM card not being included is the norm. I'll have to hit the store for one of those, as for the phone, my Charge should be here on Thursday...keeping my fingers crossed that I get a new one like some others here did.

I called VZW today because my phone did not come and they told me its not new. A Certified Pre-Owned Devices like new.

Wit the charge that i got delivered at 100 this morning it was a new one. Everything was in the box except the sim card. Battery, charger, SD card was already installed...Like I said the only thing missing was the sim.

I got my Fascinate from BB in November as well . THEy never asked me where I got it and I didnt tell them. No fuss, no muss, no hassle.

I'm still searching all over the place to find out how to get back to stock so I can call in for my replacement. I've been searching on these forums and on XDA and I've found that you have to Odin back to DL09 and then upgrade OTA, but I can't find that file to get back to stock DL09.

Any help?

Also, do they make you send your phone back (complete with SD card) if they send you a replacement? I'm guessing they make you send back the phone, but I'm not sure about the SD card. Do you have to pay to return shipping?

Thanks again everyone.

A factory reset put me on the VZ release. I had the Froyo leak previously. I still have the Superuser icon on my phone, but its no longer working. I'm wondering how I can go about deleting it, or even if I should worry about having it there before I ship the phone back to VZ.

I had mentioned many pages earlier I received my Droid charge. To clear up any questions. It did come brand new with a 32 gb micro SD. The only thing I had to do is go into Verizon for the sim card. If u read the side of the box it does not include a sim card. That u will need to get in store. If this offer is still valid, call 611 with valid complaints. Remember to have them note your account if offered a new phone. My Rep called the store for me and set everything up. Verizon will not offer this in stores don't bother going in and complaining. Your chance of being handed a brand new device / replacement from a retailer is slim to none
I don't regret this offer as i was on my fifth fascinate all with the same problem(s). Make sure u look in your new charge box for a $25.00 gift card to Samsung media hub. Last of all, I did not have to send my fassy back. Was anyone else able to keep their original fassy.

Just got off the phone with Verizon and when I go to my local store they will be processing the replacement with a Droid Charge. I really wanted to go for the Incredible 2 because I am pretty much sick of dealing with Samsung and having to flash multiple roms to MAYBE fix problems that should not be occurring on the phone as it is. However, the screen is just too beautiful and 4G should be great. If I have a problem with Samsung again I will be done with them (in the cell phone sector). I can't be missing calls anymore on a phone that is supposed to be an "advanced device."

To those of you that got the Charge:
How does it feel in the hand compared to the Fascinate?
Does the thickness bother you?
Do the physical buttons bother you, or do you prefer them over the capacitive?

I am considering looking into this as well, but would love to hear what you have to say

I just got back from Best Buy, where I checked out both the Charge and the Inc 2. To me, the Incredible 2 felt better, more solid and higher quality. The charge is slightly bigger than the fascinate, which itself is a large phone (admittedly personal preference). The physical buttons on the Charge just felt cheap and I really don't like the whole idea of physical buttons.

I plan to call tomorrow to hopefully get my Fascinate replaced. Even though I'd much prefer the Incredible, the reports of poor signal strength have me leaning towards the Charge. My single biggest complaint about the fascinate is that it's weak antennae make for a pretty lousy phone, which happens to be the primary functionality of these things called... phones.
