Verizon offer FREE INC2 or X2

Is there aomething specific you said because ive calles to the Spanish technical support should i try in english?
basically I said that after the update my phone was still missing calls. They tried to call my phone, I had it on silent and said that I didnt receive their call. They tried this twice and i said I did not get their call either time. They transferred me to level 2 support and the first words out of her mouth was that I could get a new phone. the dinc2, x2, or charge. Couldn't get the charge though.

I went to Verizon tonight. The gentleman who helped me was very nice. I told him about the missed call issue. First he suggested a hard reset. I explained I already had done so several times with tech support. He then decided on warranty replacement. I asked what he would be sending me as a replacement. I was told it would be another Fascinate.

I asked him to check his bulletins. I explained the known problems & the replacement program. He scrolled through the computer for a few minutes. He then asked his supervisor if I qualify. The supervisor looked at the screen, said yes and was told my choices are the Charge, X2 & Dinc2.

I was sure I would choose the X2, however at the last second, I changed my mind & ordered the Charge. Believe it or not, I think I made the wrong decision. :(

Here's how I got my phone replaced. It's a couple pages back. Let them know that missed calls are a problem for you. Tell them there is plenty of talk on Fascinate forums the ED05 update did not fix the problem.

well let me tell you about my journey. I called tech support this morning. Told them the issues of missed calls and missing text messages. The tech said the ed05 update would fix it. I told him that I have the update already but still same issue. Tech actually called my phone and it did ring but I acted as of nothing was happening hehe. After he called three times I then acted like it was the first call. Tech offered me the x2 and dinc2. I told him a worker at the Verizon store said I could get the charge. Tech person said no way because its a 4g. I said ohh well I'm not familiar with those phones so I would have to go look at them and make a decision. I told him to make note that I can switch.

I then went to Verizon to look at my two options. Dinc2 wasn't even on display so I had to ask a worker to look at his dinc2. I was not impressed by either option, especially after seeing the charge. I asked the Verizon worker if I could somehow get the charge and he said that offer ended. He said the only way to get it is to call customer service and somehow convince them. When no one was around the worker coached me on what to say. He said to tell them I'm used to the fascinate and did not want to learn a new phone interface. I said well I have nothing to lose. Got on the phone using Verizon's phone talked to level two tech told him my story about update not working and still missing calls. I told him I was offered the x2 and dinc2 and it should be noted on my account but I don't like neither and feel it is not a clear solution and replacement. I also expressed great concern in learning a new layout and I was not happy nor valued as a customer. The tech said I needed to go to a Verizon store I then told him I was in the store. He wanted to talk to the associate. By listening to the conversation the tech asked the worker if indeed my phone was not working. The worker backed me up and said he attempted to call me and it didn't work (we never did this but I'm so glad he said this) .

After that it took a while since they were out of stock of battery's and back cover. The associate once again advocated for me and somehow convinced customer service and his boss to give me an extended battery and back cover from the store. My phone was ordered and I should get it in 2 days.

What worked for me was the nice but directive approach with customer service, telling them the update was useless and the awesome associate at the Verizon store. I guess luck had something to do with it as well hahah. Good luck peeps.

Haha thanks really appreciate it ill be shure to try this out

I told the tech (the first tech I talked to) that a Verizon rep told me about the exchange program which was not true since I learned about the exchange on this forum. The tech then told me about the update bit that's when I told him I had the update and was still not working. He did also mention something about update on august 1st but I told him I was tired of waiting and how am I suppose to have faith in the update if this one didn't work.

Ahh thanks really this just gave me hope thank you

I think you can at least get the x2 or dinc2 offer. The charge seriously depends on the tech and for me the Verizon worker backing me up. Good luck. Also if one says no then just try again with another tech.

Yes the dinc2 will be fine bt thanks

I'm kind of Fascinated (pardon the pun) that so many are willing to jump to the Charge after having so many problems with the Fascinate. A brief read of the Charge forums here suggests that it too is plagued with issues. I hope that's not the case for folks here are taking advantage of Verizon's offer to make things right, but personally I will be very careful about ever buying another Android phone made by Samsung.

I just called Verizon and they didn't offer me a different phone but a replacement of the Fascinate. The tech told me there was an update from Samsung that caused the issue but they now have it corrected. He said the phones that are coming from the factory have this fixed and that's what they are doing to correct this. I talked to two reps and they would not even consider offering a different phone. I figure I'll wait for a few days and call back with the same issue. I should have the new Fascinate on Tuesday. Then again, I do love my Fascinate so if it actually works I may keep it. Decisions, decisions!

After I complained to Verizon last week about my dropped calls they decided to send me a refurb Fassy instead of a different phone. While the refurb was en route the EDO5 update came out so I figured that I would never get a shot at a Charge. I got the refurb, installed my backup and spent the usual many hours figuring out all my settings (is there an easy way to do this?) No sooner do I get it all the way I like it than I get a voicemail. Not a call. A voicemail. The phone never rang. This is on the new phone.

Since this was the problem that made me get the refurb in the first place I got right on the phone to Verizon. They made me go to a place with a land line to call them back. I chose my friendly, neighborhood bar. After an hour on the land line with two levels of support they said the new phone was all fixed up with the proper software so it should work fine. I had my doubts but let them go.

One of the guys in the bar noticed my long time on the phone with Verizon. He said, “let's try it out.” He called me and got “the person you're calling is not available.” Not even voice mail. You can't make this stuff up.

I called Verizon back and gave them the whole story. I told them to look at the call log. I got kicked up to heavy duty tech again and the guy gave in and asked me what I wanted. I told him a Charge. He said that the program was discontinued. The update was supposed to fix the problem but we both agreed it didn't in my case. He broke down and applied for a dispensation in my case and got it approved. The Charge with SIM card and everything is supposed to arrive Tuesday.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm glad you advocated for yourself and got the outcome that you wanted. I hope our charges give us a better outcome.

Had the call issue after the update. Called the tech support and after doing the factory reset, still had the call issue. They only offered to replace it with a refurb fascinate. Maybe I should've acted earlier. Not too happy that they only offered a refurb model (wouldn't have mind a new fascinate). Do you think it's worth calling the tech support again and request a different replacement?

Let me preface by saying I was a long time fascinate owner and absolutely loved this forum. If it wasnt for the faulty software update (ED04 & ED05) which only affected 7% of the facinates in use... I would still have it.

Now... yes, because of the missed calls and absolutely awful 3g reception, I was more than happy to accept the upgrade to the charge.

What bothers me is not the long time members of this forum accepting the same upgrade I did, but instead it is the "members" who have a post count of 5 that are complaining that they are not being offered the same exchange when it is obvious that your phone is working fine and you are just taking advantage of the system and just googled "free replacement " or heard from a friend about this option.

Word of advice... accept the fact that you are just trying to get a new phone... and that verizon is now one step ahead of you and not allowing people to take advantage of a new phone just because you want one...and that you still have an awesome phone that has plenty of upside and many of awesome developers around to make it worth your while. Don't be part of the the problem... enjoy what you have and be grateful for that.

Rant over.

what does the number of posts have to do with anything? i just want a working phone. i even waited after the update, but it's still giving me problems. i don't think it was too unreasonable to request a brand new fascinate, not a refurb model.

You want a phone that works like its supposed too? Then trust me, the droid charge is not that phone. It to has a lot of problems.
