Verizon officially pulls update via Twitter

Question is though now, once they incorporate "the fix" into a new OTA, will those of us who already installed the now pulled OTA, get prompted again to re-download and re-install the entire 146MB+ file again.
I really don't see any question here. The soon-to-be newly offered OTA is bound to be offered in full version, probably ".4". So it will be a normal OTA upgrade. If they do offer a smaller "fix" for those of use who already downloaded the ".3", fine. All that is easy enough to incorporate into their upgrade server's detection scheme. But, it doesn't really matter. Either way, the ROM Dev's will still have the whole package available, I'm sure. Routine.

In my opinion the thing to note here is that the user community has been aware of this issue for a long time and has voiced concern over the problem every time a new leak hits. If you've ever wondered if Verizon/HTC were paying attention to forums like Android Central you now have your answer. Clearly, they are not.

Another possible explanation is that HTC was well aware of the bug but didn't prioritize it high enough to make it into this release and Verizon either didn't catch it or knew about it but didn't prioritize it high enough. Either way it's an epic fail on one or both sides.

I'm of the opinion that they do listen to the users and read the forums. How do you think they realized the problem and then found the step by step programming solution posted to fix the issue. Perhaps an employee just did a Google search for a solution... I do that at home when I'm trying to fix something.

You know what really grinds my gears? Once this update for the Thunderbolt had rolled out and had a reported voicemail bug, Verizon's people took to Twitter to officially announce it was pulled. I have a Droid Incredible. Although I know their GB update was pulled because of all the problems it has caused, they never took to Twitter or any other media to announce anything. I don't understand. What's with the lack of communication?

Who the hell still uses VM?
:p
AFAIK, all of the alternatives to VZW VM (i.e. VZW VVM, Google VM, etc) require a data connection! VZW's free VM offering does not require a data connection at all! With all the issues with data connections on 4G phones, I don't have to stretch my imagination too far to understand why there could even be a technical advantage to plain old VZW VM.

Even then, on Twitter, they didn't admit to "pulling" it (same as admitting it was rolled out but had to be taken down). Instead, they used the term "delayed". Humph!

I'm so glad I didn't get the update.
Although I understand your point of view, personally, I'm glad I did. I've found an easy VM notification workaround (free VVM for a while) so I'm now happy I have all the nice things GB has to offer. Funny thing is, I kinda like VVM. Might even keep it :) Hahaha...

I get my gmail voicemail notifications via SMS, and I can call my Google Voice number from my phone to check my voicemail if I need to.

Google VM doesn't "require" a data connection any more than Verizon VM does. The data connection makes it a lot more convenient, but it operates just fine "outside the data bubble" as well.

I think we should take up our pitchforks & torches demand a speedy resolution. Seriously couldn't they just provide us with the ability to revert back to the previous version? I really don't want to get down & dirty w/ my phone & run a custom ROM. If I was younger I would, but I mainly just want my phone to work along with all the features I expect of a modern smartphone. I admit I am pissed they broke Lets Play Golf 2 & now I have to purchase the full version all over again in order to play the full version again.

DAMN YOU HTC & VERIZON WIRELESS, DAMN YOU!!!

That's because there is a difference between scaling back/delaying an update for a quick fix, and completely pulling it to rebuild it entirely.

I blame myself for jynxing it... I said it was not pulled because I would have gotten a phone call early in the morning... and sure enough, I got a phone call this morning and had to be into work at 5 a.m.

wow, stop crying.

just call and get the free visual voicemail. it is much better. then you will have gb and vvm. no need to whine, you act like your phone was bricked.

i hope they never fix it so i can keep VVM for free!

The quickest temporary work around at this point appears to be to put your TB in airplane mode and then take it right out of airplane mode. This on and off toggle process only takes about 10 to 15 seconds, and the VM (and other) notifications then appear immediately. :D

I say Verizon should just hired the whole Team BAMF to help with the issues on the software. Personally my Thunderbolt running fine with GB and I haven't found any issues but then again I only had the OG Droid for 2 months then DX now my Bolt all within less then a yr. But that's just my opinion.

GB is working great for me, no complains. I do not use VM so if it does not work, it is ok with me.

The way I look at it is hey, this is nothing compared to how it was for everyone who had a BB storm a few years back. Besides for the vzw voicemail indicator not working, this is a pretty solid build, faster then any other stock os the tbolt has ever had, great battery life on LTE (seriously I'm getting twice the battery life when running 4g) and solid data connections. For me its like a new phone. I installed the RUU when it came out. Maybe since it wipes there's phone when it installs it loads better. I don't know. And regarding the voicemail bug. Everyone, just install the free Google voice app. It is so much better than the vzw voiocemail service anyways. You won't look back. I promise you. If you are having issues with anything else, maybe a wipe of your phone is needed.

**just my 2?**

Funny that VReizon is now goibgto be releasing a VM fix just a day or so after BAMF crew fixed it for all us rooters. How much do you want to bet Verizon/htc will just steel/borrow BAMF's fix?

I think they are going to use team bamf's fix. It's working great on my phone. :-)
