Should hook up to the Verizon software support

Try to reboot in recovery and clear cache and try the software update button again and see if it says CSAA

If you know how to Odin, go back to ARL1

ok i downloaded the app on my pc, now when i plug my phone into the pc and click on use usb for "system update" it just re-selects use usb for "transering files"

I'm not familiar with Verizon tool but if you select transfer files what happens

then the upgrade assistant wont let me continue until i select system update, can i maybe flash my phone back to oreo and be able to take the ota update?

Ok ..you need ARL1 that's oreo
But in xda forum they have CSB3 just use that and you be up to date

so i just need to update my phone to CBS3 and everything will fall into place after that?
