Verizon Pixel Oreo update.

Does anyone's phone make a start/boot up sound on Oreo? Mine doesn't. Just curious if it's only me. I have tried with all the volume settings all the way up. I contacted google support and they weren't really helpful. Which was surprising because they usually are.

HD calling is there or you can enable it through the dialer with the usual code. HD Video is gone, so can't switch to a video call with my wife anymore after trying the DP4. No matter what I do.

I just reset my phone and HD Video works now.

I'm using a Pixel XL bought from Google on Verizon. Since the Oreo update I have seemed to lost my wifi/advance calling feature as well as HD voice and video. Is anybody else having this issue?

Mine doesn't either (and I did a hard reset since the update). Maybe they just removed it.

I hope this gets fixed for the Bluetooth in Uconnect issues. The only way for me to get my song data back is to disconnect and reconnect my phone from the Uconnect screen.

This is about 50% of the time. The rest of the time it works as it should. This is the same issue I've had on three different Uconnect Vehicles, a Dodge Ram, a Dodge Durango, and a Dodge Journey.

There is a bunch of Bluetooth options in developer options. I don't know enough about the different options to know if any of these would make a difference but maybe someone who does could chime in
I have the same issue with my Honda Accord if I'm using the Pandora link it will randomly lose all the information on the screen of what song is playing and the artist and then it will randomly come back.

Google Music will show song info but often not change when the song changes until half way through the next song on my UCONNECT. Pocket Casts shows no information of the Podcast.

I did do the Beta for a while and it had the same problems, so I rolled back to 7.1.1. I would think they would have fixed these issues during the Beta.

Thank you for the info dlalonde. I was thinking about doing a hard reset but I haven't noticed anything else wrong that affects me. I've saw people mentioned things about Bluetooth and whatnot though.

No problem. I always hard reset or reinstall after an OS update whether it's Android or Windows ;)

Yep - this. Minor updates (7.1 to 7.1.2) I don't. Whole versions - 6 to 7, 7 to 8, a factory reset is always recommended. When I first updated my battery life was total crap. Once I reset it, it was back to it's full glory.

Yeah I saw that some remnants of Nougat were gone after my hard reset so I was glad that I did it!

Downloaded O yesterday and suddenly I've got the camera lens flare going on? I remember this happening when they were first released(though never happened on mine when I recieved it last October/November), but they sent out a fix shortly after. Correct?
Anyone else experiencing this with O release?

The start up sound is gone in Oreo. Many didn't like it. For me it is not a big deal and could be annoying in some situations.

You are definitely not the Lone Ranger. The useful setting that made it possible to turn the start up sound on/off in Nougat seems to have vanished when Oreo appeared on the scene. There's a discussion about this on the Google Product Forums.

I'm one of the ones who liked it (and miss it). A few piano notes that reminded me of a song I know.

This. Did the same and cleaned up some of the "edges" .. Really helped smooth out the battery drain
Ok, here's a question (and this may be fodder for a separate thread, so sysops have at it if need be). Been a LONG time since I've done that. Just how much of a pain is it now to set your phone back up as you had it? Or are you one who generally keeps it simple? Do you use a backup app? Are there such apps that truly back up everything, including homescreen groups, etc?

I use Google Drive for cloud back-up storage and it backs up pretty much everything including text messages and call log. The entire process took a bit over an hour for me, but most of that time was spent downloading the hundred or so apps I have on my Pixel. But my apps were set up exactly as they were beforehand. Obviously, I did have to sign back into my apps, but they were just like I left them.
