Verizon S3 to Straight Talk

Hi thank you very much for the information.....I tried it and it worked perfectly for me for about two weeks, but then suddenly it quit working. I was wondering if you had any clue as to why my Verizon Wireless Galaxy S3 now says "Mobile Network Not Available"? Thank you :)

yesterday my s3 started acting up every so often it will say i dont have a sim i. and it makes me restart i have to do it like 5 times before it recognizes the sim is in and it keeps going back to global and cdma.. anyone know why this keeps happening or is this just how it is? please help!!

You do whatever You want.
Read whatever You can.

But a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 will not get 4G LTE other than the Verizon's own 4G LTE.

There is something called, Frequency and Radios.
Its a very complicated topic and can't be explained in a page or 2.

In a single sentence, if You need a Phone like that, ITS ONLY IPHONE 5S - That too Verizon Version only.
No Phone from Samsung, LG, SONY, Blackberry, Pantech, will give You that facility.
You can get only 2G other than the Phone's own Network.

I have a SCH-I535, tried it with AT&T Prepaid, T-Mobile Prepaid, Simple Mobile, Straight Talk both AT&T and T-Mobile SIM.
I have used all these services atleast for 1 Month in my SGS3.

Only a iPhone 5s - Verizon Version will give You that facility of getting 4G LTE on AT&T, TMobile and Verizon's 4G LTE Network.

I have an older Verizon Motorola and when I put my straight talk sim in it asks for sim unock pin, what does that meas?

Sounds like you're running an older version of Android; so I guess you'll need to call your carrier to get an unlock code. As long as your account is in good standing they should do that for free (the FCC has been cracking down on carriers that give users a hassle when requesting this).

Welcome to AC! I agree, you should call the carrier and get the unlock code. 👇

My Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 gets 4GLTE on tmobile. Most current Verizon 4GLTE smartphones can get 4glte on tmobile.

Hi I have a galaxy s4 active I just activated it to straight talk byop (at&t) everything works except I can't browse the internet or send/receive mms. I've been reading different things online tried many apns none worked FINALLY one worked my phone went to 4g I sent an mms and received one back and checked fb LOL:) this is what I used...
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS PROXY: mms.tracfone.com
MMS PORT: 80
APN TYPE: default,supl,mms
Then BAM as soon as I turned my Wi-Fi on 4g disappeared now there is an E? Not sure why I tried turning my Wi-Fi off and nothing can't do what I could just a minute ago PLEASE HELP I'm not sure if it's just because I have bad signal where I live or because the apn settings..

So glad this thread is still happening!

Love the forum but didn't register until now. Don't hold it against me. Least I search! ;)

I've got the same question - but also to get a definitive answer since there seem to be different ones depending on the situation so now I'm just confused. I have read the entire thread, read other threads, other articles, other you tube channels and finally figured maybe if I register and ask I'll get lucky and get the correct answer for my case!

It's currently May 2014. I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 4g, running Android 4.3, and network mode shows Global. The APN is Verizon lte and numbers. There is a micro SD slot with the 16gb card and a red/white sim card in the back. I don't know what jelly bean is or whether or not I have it, and the technical stuff beyond the above, I haven't a clue! I got the phone in July or August 2013. It's gone through a couple of automatic updates, including one this last week or so but I wasn't sure what updated.

I have a couple months left on a Verizon contract - however, it's not my contract. I got on someone else's plan in order to take advantage of a fab deal to get the SGs3 for 25 bucks. Phone's paid for and mine. We agreed they will pay off the remaining contract terms if it remains applicable but I am moving mid summer and want to go back to Straight Talk. I had a Samsung something else through them initially but really wanted the SG.

If I go ahead and make the switch now, the bill would still be paid but the phone is off contract.

Do I need to unlock this phone or is it already unlocked for a simple switch over without nonsense?
Do I need to root it and if so why, and how (or link me to the instructions for my case please!)
Is it a simple matter of buying the Straight Talk activation kit and picking the AT&T card and switching them out, following the instructions from earlier in this thread - and which option for carrier would I need to select for stbyop? (Note, I tested it earlier and "other" said it wouldn't work, so tried at&t and it said it would. OR
Is it a simple matter of buying a 7 dollar sim card at WalMart, switching them out and if so, what specific sim card would it be and what service? Straight Talk still?
I do not show an MEID number or whatever. I have an IME forget offhand but it's not the M one)
Will all my normal features including 4g still work? (ie. did anyone figure out/resolve the picture messages and voice mail issue?)
Any Android or Samsung updates - would I still get those through Straight Talk's service?

What is the case with my current phone number? Will I receive a new/different one? For the record, it's not a huge issue if the number changes since I'm moving to another area code and would change it later anyway but I don't know where to go for the number or how it comes about.

Thanks!

does anyone know why the phone out of no where says there is no sim and has to restart?? im still dealing with it. it happens like 10 times a day.. i have to take the battery out and the sim out put them back in turn the phone on,,,go to mobile settings again and search for at&t???? is anyone else dealing with the same thing or was dealing with it but some how fixed it??? i reallly dont have the money to buy an at&t phone to put it on straight talk and hoping someone on here can help me!!!!
thanks

Hello. Bought 2 phones off amazon. One I was able to get activated through ST, following earlier instructions. The 2nd one though I am having problems with. It does not have an option for the Global, CDMA, or GSM. Like nothing is there. Also there is nothing listed under APN's, it is just blank and wont let me add anything. Just set to default APN which does nothing, it still stays blank. It only has the 4.0.4 OS but I don't have service on the phone so I can't update it either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You can update it manually using the Kies software or a tool called Odin.

That's generally not a very nice way to ask for help.

I'm in exactly the same situation as Serenity. I am on VZW with 2 SG3's, running 4.3. I know how to get to the GSM setting and such. I'm looking at going to ATT family plan since it will still be about $50 a month cheaper than what I'm currently paying, but from what I'm reading it seems that I will still be limited to sub 4G data levels. I am a heavy data user so the family plan with 10G is better than what I have on VZW. I'm curious if anyone has gotten the whole phone to work yet. Calling, texting, pictures, voicemail... EVERYTHING. I'm not interested in having a ghettofied figuratively duct taped together phone. If I have to I'll just go buy the damn ATT ones since I would make the money back in a few months of saving 50/month. But, everyone likes to save a few bucks, so I'd like to take my phones with if possible. Does anyone have any new information on how to successfully make the phone completely functional?

The Verizon more everything plan is really $50 more than att plan? What are your needs? The plans are pretty closely aligned last I checked
