Verizon S5 Lollipop Bugs

My phone has become so slow after the update and battery life is horrible, almost nonexistent.

Mine slowed too...I did everything NOT to have to do a factory reset. I will say, however, after factory resetting, phone sped up, no more hot battery, fluid transitions/animations...it was worth the hour of time

Yes but battery life was still poor afterwards, however it seems fixed now. Have gone all day with my phone and only down 15% with moderate use. Overall phone is still running slow and my battery is starting to overheat.

See Post #42....for fix

Freezing and frequent overheating for me, on verizon. Battery pulls and clearing cache not any help, really dont want to invest the time needed in a factory reset, especially if there are still gpong to be flaws with the basic funtionality of my device (ie no way to silence phone but NOT alarm, what genius thought THAT was a good idea?)

was reading that there is a way to say what notifications appear on lockscreen anyone know how to set this?

The watch's software needs to be updated. Not Android's problem.

Yes, it is partially Google and Android's problem if their customers perceive this to be a bug ridden update...which looks to be the case. Pebble isn't getting the bad press, it's Android.

My GPS does not work. My app device manager does not activate my GPS on my phone at all. And my phone is lagging alot. Takes 2-4 secs to do anything

Do a factory reset...it fixed mine and many other have reported the same.

That's what I did, the factory reset seemed to fixed the over heating and battery drain.

Good to hear. Remember, it's a new OS...give the phone a day or two to settle in with it. I'm having next to no issues at all. Hope your's works itself out.

Battery draining major. Over heats after 5 mins of use. What the heck Verizon? If I call they will just want to replace it.

Have you tried a battery pull. Many have reported that battery pull has helped and also people are saying that it takes a day or 2 until the upgrade "settles" and the phone operates better.

Do the dreaded factory reset...it helped mine a lot and others are reporting the same thing.

I haven't used Kies. If I back up with that. Then reset. Can Kies bring it back?
I did the battery pull the next day after update.

I don't use Kies but I have used Helium and it does a pretty good job of backing both apps and data. Some apps do not allow a backup but that is a minority of the apps. My phone is not rooted so Helium only backs up to the phone memory. Once that is completed I then copy the "carbon" folder to my PC so just in case the phone has a problem I always have a copy.

My download went smoothly.
Possible bugs;
1. wi-fi constantly drops and reconnects.
2. Lock screen only illuminates for 3 seconds. This was due to not having any security pins/passwords.
3. My starred contacts I had on one page for one touch photo dial is no longer there.
My battery life is great due to the app I use "DU Battery Saver."

I have found it completely awful; the battery loses almost a percent a minute, apps such as whatsapp stop working for no reason, it is so painfully slow I have given up trying to use even basic apps such as facebook messenger and now have to use my laptop just to send a message. The lack of a silent button annoyed me but I solved that by turning the vibration intensity down to zero so that it works as silent, this is fine for me as I never used it on vibrate anyway.

The most annoying things I have found is that it keeps disconnecting from the wifi even though there is nothing wrong with the wifi- my laptop is connected to it all the time with no problems, it also says that there is no internet connection even when it is showing it's connected to the wifi or when there's 4G. Also it took 21 minutes to send a text despite there being perfect signal, which is a problem for me as I live at uni and contact my family by text.

I also don't like the white design, it looked much better black. I don't like that I can't see what type of notification I have without unlocking the phone; before I wouldn't need to unlock the phone to see if it was a snapchat or facebook notification etc. as the symbol appeared in the top left corner, however now when the phone is locked all it says in the top left corner is O2-UK. This is the 5th day I've had the new update now and there has been no improvement thus far.

I had never before had problems when updating phones, I have gone from loving my phone to hating it in a matter of days. I wish I could go back to KitKat, I can only hope they sort out the glitches soon. If you haven't already than do not download it, wait for them to sort out the problems first.

Lollipop has been a big disappointment for me.
1) WiFi keeps dropping and reconnecting.
2) Auto screen brightness feature doesn't seem to be working, screen is always too dim, quite annoying.
3) Poor battery life - can barely make it half a day with very light use.
4) Very slow now. Some apps crash like my native music app, Flip board doesn't seem to be working when I touch on the articles to open. Even swiping between screens is lagging. Opening my email app (Microsoft Exchange) is VERY slow to open/load.
5) I wish I could go back to KitKat. I haven't really noticed any positives about Lolipop, maybe because I'm too focused on the issues mentioned above???
6) Done venting................................for now. :(

Factory reset should fix the issue except for the screen brightness

I upgraded on Monday night. By Tuesday night I was desperately trying to keep my battery charged long enough to do a backup so I could do a factory reset. The lag and battery issues made the phone almost unusable. After the reset things were better for about a day but I am now back to the battery lasting only 4-5 hours, overheating, lagging, etc. I have reset the cache several times and pulled the battery. I am also seeing issues with my Pebble not communicating. I'm on the Pebble beta software so not sure which is to blame for that. Could there be an app or two that is causing all this? Has anyone done any testing to see which apps are causing them issues? I wonder since some are having issues and some are not. I am deleting one at a time as I suspect one being a problem but haven't found one that fixes it yet.
