Verizon S5 Lollipop Bugs

Lollipop has been a big disappointment for me.
1) WiFi keeps dropping and reconnecting.

I think this is a result of a bug in the Smart Network Switch setting in the Advanced Wifi settings (Settings-->Wifi-->options button (vertical dots)). It is supposed to automatically switch back to 4G if wifi drops internet (not drops signal, but drops the actual internet connection). My wifi losing and regaining connection problem has gone away after I unchecked that option.

Don't do it if you're on Verizon. They added something to Lollipop and rendered my phone virtually useless. Battery drain in 4-5 hrs, runs hot, can't send email or pinch zoom any longer, wifi doesn't work. This is common to many Verizon users. It's a train wreck.

I have the same problem as WareIAm. This has turned my Vzn GS5 into a brick. Not sure how to fix this mess.

Hate hate the white theme... hurts my eyes ... not happy at loosing the black theme, wish I could go back... also I agree with previous poster, the auto brightness is wayyy to dim

If anyone has found a work-around or something similar to the KitKat "Blocking Mode" please let me know!

I use an app called aFirewall blocker which seems to be better than the blocking mode. I have not "upgraded" to Lollipop but assume it will work.

just go ahead reset your phone. i've been having similar issues too, and wasting time trying to charge my battery when it's burning through the battery too quickly. Backed up my contacts and did a factory wipe. Disabled bloatware and reinstalled my necessary apps. Working great now. Phone is more fluid than it was with Kitkat and I didn't have to disable any animations. Battery is lasting longer now too. Disabled Smart Network Switch and all the Air Gestures.

As mentioned earlier in this post, did FR and back to 2 full days on my battery. After the FR ran the battery down to 1% did full charge and life's good (again)!

Upgraded to android 5.0 this morning. All good except wifi does not work after using hotspot. Hotspot works, but after using it the wifi reconnects but does not transfer data. A restart of the phone fixes wifi again (until hotspot activated and deactivated.)

My upgrade went fine. Then things went horrible when I re-installed apps. Didn't know Kaspersky Mobile Security wasn't compatible with Android 5.0. Phone got stuck at the end of boot into repetitive "Kaspersky Mobile Security has stopped working" message box that had to be clicked "OK". The message box would reopen in about a second, thus making the phone almost unusable. It took lots of reboots, but I finally was finally able to uninstall it. My phones is working smoothly now, but I can't find a command to edit contacts any more. I can add, but not edit. I had to download a third party contacts app to change my existing contacts.

I upgraded yesterday and my S5 is almost not functional. Nothing works. Contacts won't sync, Yahoo App crashes every time I open it, it keeps saying I have no storage space even after deleting tons of stuff. The buttons are in different places (so annoying) and my sideload of Instwogram keeps crashing. Pretty much hate it. I also keep getting an error message that I have no idea what to do with except hack my way through as I am certain the people at Best Buy or Geek Squad would have no idea. Not happy. AT ALL. Don't do it!

Old post, I know, but I just got an S5. I never got anymore than 6 hours of battery life from it. I thought once I upgraded to 5.0 it might help, but it still said the same. Do you think backing up and reseting(not just a staight reset) would help to get my battery life? I do have a couple apps MI Mobile, Screenwise Panel, and Nielsen on my phone, but I doubt thats causing me to lose so much battery when my friends S5 can last all day without ever turning off wifi or GPS. Any ideas?

Did you try doing a "Clear Cache" it might help but I am puzzled that you only got 6 hours when on KitKat. Are you a very heavy user? I am not a heavy user but I do use my S5 (still on KitKat) a fair amount each day and I very rarely get below 50% after 14 hours. I have GPS, Bluetooth, data and various widgets running all the time.

Im above average, but Im far from a heavy hitter. I clear my cache partition atleast 2-3 a week. I always make sure to turn off my wifi when I'm on the road, and I usually turn off my GPS and Blue tooth when im home. Right now, my phone is at 13%, according to the stock battery app, and it says I have 26 minutes left. Like, what the heck. Once I get a nice full charge and use it up again, I can post what percantage of battery my OS and apps are using, maybe you can tell me if its too high of a number.

I really don't know what to say. If your S5 is old is it possible you just have a bad battery which needs replacement?

Got my S5 a few weeks ago. Immediately updated to lollipop and then did a factory reset. It rocks. Great battery life and I'm not yet getting major bugs

If your on verizon and the full reset doesn't fix your problems with 5.0 then there is a thread on here about how to revert back to 4.4.4 and I know it works because I did it.

So did a full reset last night, and my overheating problem, contact crashing problem, and I believe my battery problem is gone too. I don't have ten posts yet so I can't post a photo, but my Android system is at 8%, screen is at 7%, Facebook is 7%, and Android OS is at 6%. Current battery level is 55%. Does that sound good?

Also, this was with Power Saving mode on all day. I made sure to turn off WiFi and Bluetooth and data when I wasn't using it as well.

I also have the stock S5 Verizon. Some of the bugs I have I can deal with until a patch comes along. One of my main problems is that my original Samsung chargers are no longer recognized by the phone. I have one that I'm using now from my old Samsung Nexus 10 tablet to charge. How do I get the original wide chargers to work again? My husband and I have to fight over this one charger now. LOL.
