Verizon S5 Lollipop Bugs

Several problems with messages not showing from led and lock screen, screen doesn't even light up when a notification is received

So far all is good with 5.0 on my S5. I did the reset thing and it is running great so far. Even seems a little bit faster.

I can't speak to the battery issue some are having because I use a Mophie batt on my S5.

I tried the usual everyone else mentioned, did cache wipe/refresh, ended up doing a factory reset, pain but seems to have settled things down. I normally can go 2 days on a single full charge. So I'll see how it goes next few days, everything else is mostly cosmetic.

I'm pretty bummed because I tried that with no positive results (battery still drained quickly and phone got hot). So, I then completed a hard reset last night and this morning after just 5hrs at work my phone was down to 19% and still really hot.

Has anyone pinpointed any apps that may be the culprit? I actually don't have very many apps installed on my phone. I actually use my phone mainly for infrequent web browsing, email, and as an actual phone.

Will clearing cache wipe any data from my phone? I have backups but with the SD card issues recently I'd rather not lose anything.

If anyone has found a work-around or something similar to the KitKat "Blocking Mode" please let me know!

The only issue I have so far is regarding volume. It took me a while to find in the settings how to change notifications volume. I also can't seem to find how to keep my phone on mute for a set time period. I used to be able to use the blocking settings for while I was sleeping and now the option is gone and I have no clue how to set it up with the new upgrade. Help!

There is no "fix" for this, unfortunately. Google decided to drop "Blocking Mode" which was awesome and now it's this "Priority" feature. The problem is, Priority sucks and if you totally mute your phone volume, your alarm WILL NOT SOUND. So, you have to keep the volume up and then go tell the phone what you consider a "Priority Notification" like calls or texts from Favorites. I **thought** I had mine set correctly but at @1:30 AM today, my phone sounded an Outlook Event Reminder tone...I checked and I have the "Events and Reminders" check box unchecked...which is "OFF" in Priority Mode, but it made sound anyway. I cannot figure our for the life of me why they dropped Blocking Mode. It was so effective and this new system SUCKS.

Factory reset should fix the issue except for the screen brightness

I did do the factory reset and it has fixed my problems except the auto screen brightness feature. Performing the factory reset is a very big hassle, you lose all your app data, you have to download apps all over again and you have to go through the hoops of setting all your accounts up again. Never had to do this for a OS upgrade before, wonder where the issue lies? Is it Verizon, Samsung or Android? Glad my phone is running better but wasted an entire evening getting my phone back to where I had it when it was working just fine. :(

After reading your description to make alarms work I think the downgrade to kit kat would be quicker and easier to understand.

I did not lose any data when I did the clearing cache thing first. Also, hard resetting the phone wasn't as big a deal as I thought. The app store knew what apps were on there so it automatically reinstalled everything. Most of my settings also transferred over. The only annoying thing was setting up my app pages again.

This is kind of related to this, so here it goes.

I noticed my battery drop about 10% in about 10 minutes. (100% to 90%). When I checked to see what was using the battery it said Exchange Services. I have my email set to push which wasn't a problem in the past. Could this be what is causing me to lose battery life so quickly with Lollipop--some sort of interaction with Exchange email?

Also, what uses more battery -- push or polling every 5 minutes?

I am CONSTANTLY having to wait for my phone to respond from the black screen.
I have done master reset, cleared cache....NEVER HAD this problem before lollipop....ADDITIONALLY, has anyone noticed that Verizon in their INFINITE wisdom neglected to give us the latest version of Lollipop????

I also have a close friend with the same exact phone through Verizon and HE TOO is experiencing the same issue as me in fact he mentioned it to me before I could tell him what is wrong with mine. After looking a little on the internet here it is my understand that is why 5.0.1 was released.

I also find it troublesome to not be able to change the orange status bar color in txt messaging interface however the ONLY issue I wish would be fixed is the memory leak issue which I do believe was addressed in 5.0.1

It is my belief that Verizon wanted to release 5.0 just so they could say they were the first American carrier to do so even though it is NOT the latest version.

....waiting on a fix for the unable to wake the phone up black screen phenom...... Unrooted Verizon Galaxy S5 w/current OTA Lollipop 5.0 as offered by Verizon.

I'm seeing that Android OS is using more battery than the screen. I keep the screen on a lot and it is usually at least 2x the next largest battery user.

Today NBC live extra is equal to Android OS in battery usage. Normally it's not anywhere near the top unless I've been using it (I haven't used it in awhile).

Anyone has issues with Okay Google, call so and so? It hears and understands my command but it doesn't act on it...

I've had a lot of the same issues as everyone else here.

Did a factory reset and it got a little better, but still have issues.

One oddity jumps out at me is with the widgets. Whats with the text not fitting?

I just did the update for Lollipop, so I imagine I will find more things to ask questions about, but for now, the thing that is driving me NUTS is the new color of the pull down menu on the main screen. Is there any way to change that back to a nice darker color? Also, the notifs on the lock screen are just as ugly! PLEASE. HELP. ME.

Using Samsung S3 but still no update received regarding Lollipop 5.0, I tried to upgrade the software but in vain :(

I'm not sure if the S3 will get lollipop, but if it does it will probably be months from now considering that it is almost a 3 year old phone. It would be in line behind the Note 4, S4, and the Note 3. I wouldn't expect it to see an update to 5.0 until at least summer.

Settings --> Sound and Notification --> scroll down to While locked, and select non, show all content, or hide sensitive content (or something like that). Those opptions are to show no notification, show all content (i.e. first couple lines of emails and texts and news), or show only content flagged as not sensitive by the app.

Ever since the update i keep getting random "Tryin SDK - 21 ----- getPhone error - java.lang.NullPointerException:" errors. Happens one just about every app i can run and at random times.
