I was on the phone with 3 Samasung agents today for roughly 3 hours. They logged into my Verizon S9+ and we all went through all the settings and looked at all possible options for getting the option for personalized notification tones back, but it was to no avail. One agent switched out for a higher ranking one and she said that Oreo for the S9's is very new and they are having some issues. She acknowledged that the notification tones are a big issue for people. They will be pushing out patches between now and October and they asked that I be patient and see if one the patches, coming out soon will fix this problem. They are aware of it and will hopefully get it out soon.I haven't gotten a update yet for my s9 plus and I don't have the option so it wasn't the update you got.
Thanks. That's some patience. No way I would have wasted 3 hours letting agents mess with my phone only to come to the same answer we already knew. Hopefully though it will return though. I dont use it personally as I almost always have my phone on vibrate but it seems tons of people use it.I was on the phone with 3 Samasung agents today for roughly 3 hours. I hope this helps some of you. It's still frustrating, but now I know tons of people have been complaining.
One is Note 8 and the other S9. The s9 is missing it.
So received my S9+ yesterday and was very impressed with the switch from my S8. All of my settings apps, etc seemed to seemlessly come over. Everything was great until I noticed my incoming texts lost their custom tones. Like many - I dont want to look with every incoming text or notification who is texting me - so I prefer individual tones for specific contacts. I tried in vain for hours to find the settings - to no avail. I called samsung - this feature is not available on the new S9 and S9+?!?! Seriously - it's been on every galaxy phone since my S3?! I rely on this ... anyone find a way to get it back?
I think you have to go into contacts click on the specific contact and then have to click the top right to change things, scroll down and it should have the option for ringtone and also for notification sound and you can change it
I got my new Samsung 9 today and this was driving me crazy as well. I spoke with T-Mobile and with Samsung. Samsung told me to go to any Best Buy and ask for the Samsung Live Representative. They will do a software recovery for free. It's a glitch regarding Google Oreo. Hope this helps.
Just talked with samsung they claim they are working on a patch to fix this issue.
It doesn't sound like this is a Samsung issue, it sounds like Google/Oreo issue.
Actually, no - it's not exactly an Oreo issue. It's a Samsung messenger on Oreo issue. Other handsets and other txt messengers on Oreo are still able to set individual contact tones for txt messages. Just not stock Samsung messaging app on Oreo. The fix will likely come from Samsung, not Google.
