Verizon Screen Protectors

I too say the VZW protectors suck. They feel smooth and matte like running your finger across your LCD monitor, but, and believe me it's a big but, they finger print so bad and they drastically affect the screen appearance.

I was poking around the Incredible forums awhile back and they all love the Steinheil protectors which is what I will be ordering. The VZW ones are awful.

So I REALLY want a screen protector that will be super smooth to run my finger over. My buddies iPhone screen protector is amazing (it's a privacy screen protector) and it is so smooth that your finger will never catch on it. My finger catches on the glass of the phone if my hands are ever clammy or anything but perfectly dry.

Is the "matte" feeling you're referring to similar to what I'm describing? If so, what's the best "matte" protector?

I tried the VZW screen protector and it was garbage. Made the screen look like crap. It lasted a half an hour then I ripped it off.

I'm having a similar experience. I just put one on the DX and I think the screen looks kind of grainy behind it. I wonder if that will diminish as it "dries" out or something, if perhaps there is just some excess moisture under the protector. Display definitely doesn't look as nice, though. Keep me posted on how it works for you.

I hate this Verizon anti-glare screen protector. I'll have to leave it on for now, until I can figure out what to get that is much better.

Personally I went with the hip holster and anti glare protectors. Very impressed with the holster - it has a professional look to it, and it allows good protection while still allowing docking. The screen protectors I am not so impressed with, as they are not fitted for the entire screen but just where the business is.

I am considering this combo as well. The anti glare doesn't cover the entire screen? I really don't want that for protection. I just want to cut down on finger prints

Thanks. That is why I took them off my iPhone 3GS. I will return them and get a plastic holster instead. Plus I should probably wait to see if my screen fails

Stick with the verizon offered anti-glare/protector. Its cheap, available in stores on release day, and honestly is better than anything on the market.
The original anti glares made the screen somewhat fuzzy in my opinion, and the standard clear ones while crystal clear sometimes made the screen not so smooth when swyping. Also the clear ones were magnets for oil and finger prints. This new protector for the X not only combines the clear, non-fuzzy, anti-glare but is amazing when it comes to not attracting or showing face oil and finger prints.

Put it right and you wont be disappointed; it protects, enhances and is cheap. Can't go wrong with that!

So far I like the quality of the VZW offered protector, like DbleAron said it isn't fuzzy doesn't show much in the way of oil, the screen is still very responsive. Overall very good!
The only thing that really bothers me is that it only covers the viewing area.
The peice of plastic that makes up the screen is acctually larger than the protectors. It doesn't interfere with the operation of the device however, it just bugs me a bit. I feel like I'm accidentally gonna peel it up when moving from screen to screen.

The anti glare ones are junk. It makes the screen look like very low resolution. I took it off after a day for a clear one I cut from a large sheet. I have not had my phone go into any dock when in the holster. I had this happen with the droid so I faced the screen out and that stopped it. I face the X out in this one and still no problems.

so verizon only has one kind for the X now? Its the anti-glare kind or do they offer the clear also? How much are they?

OK, I just ordered mine today...although my phone won't be shipped out until 08/03....

The VZ ones aren't bad. They're not great either. They do have that rainbow effect but it's only noticeable when viewing something that has a white background. And you get used to it after a bit.

They don't show finger prints or grease at all. And they only cover the exact size of the touch part of the screen. It's only a little annoying when you slide your finger off the protector if you're swyping and then hit the edge of the protector as you slide back on.

I ordered the Steinheil ones and will be checking them out too.

I second this, my wife got hers while I was on buisness i came back after she had the phone for 5 days with VZWs anti glare shield, I didnt even realize it was on until I picked mine up and notice the small difference in screen feel. Then I installed Zagg's shield on my X .

I had the VZW protector, and something really scratched the screen (I blamed it on my wife). I thought for sure the screen beneath was scratched. I took the protector off and no scratch at all. Sure, the VZW protector is not the clearest, but it actually does protect the screen from scratches.

I had an otterbox for my BB and it came with a pack of screen protectors that were really good. Don't know what kind they were. I think I'll just stick with the VZW ones until the Otterbox comes out.

I think the general consensus has been "they were good when they were the only thing available on launch day to protect the screen - but now that there's a few others out - the realization is they truly do suck"
