Someone posted how to switch to 1080p video on you tube under settings but I don't see that option? I go under settings from the 3 dots in the upper corner of you tube. I looked under general settings but don't see any options?

Yeah I don't think YT gives us the ability to manipulate the settings to hi-def anymore. 720p is the highest it allows me to go.

I had that problem but today I checked it and to my surprise the 1080P option was there.

Hmm I wonder what changed? Yeah whoever posted it before said some had the 1080p option. I don't. Just wish I could figure it out

I Uninstalled updates and stopped the program then installed an old version with disabled updates and have regained the 1440p option. YES! So beautiful YouTube is on the Note 4.

Thanks xda

It seems like it's a youtube thing. I tried to Google it but not much came up. Looks like everyone is affected by it, I can only get it at 720P on both my Note 3 and LG G3. Maybe they took it down til they can optimize it to good for the Nexus 6? Who knows why Google took out the options.

Do you have to be rooted to do this? I have version 5.14.5. Is that the newest? The options available to me in settings are force stop, uninstall updates, and turn off. Do I do all/some of these? Also, where can you download other versions of YT?

Don't have to be rooted and you actually don't want the latest version. this procedure actually installs an earlier version. Disabling auto updates is necessary after you are done.

What version did you install, and how do I go about doing this? I want 1440 SO BAD.

didnt work for me.

I tried to install an older version of YouTube, but came across these issues after uninstalling updates to the app and trying to load the older apk. Anything obvious a moderately noobish Android nerd might have forgotten to do?

If I want HD Crisp videos to upload to you tube. What recording setting do I have to record on my note 4? Whenever I record and upload to YT playback is horrible.

Just tried that again and it's still very choppy for me.

Echoing this. Assuming I can't get this to work, can we expect the impending lollipop release and subsequent YouTube app releases to fix this, or is Google intentionally and indefinitely limiting to 720 playback for the movie app?

This is one of the mysteries about Android that frustrates me. How is it that the iOS version operates perfectly and you can choose 1080p for the 6 Plus. Just doesn't make sense.

Scribbled from the mighty pen of my Galaxy Note 4!
