Video recording drops frames

I'm pretty happy with my Nexus 5X so far, except for video recording. Sometimes during video recording there is a short freeze and a few frames are dropped. Frames are dropped regardless of the resolution (720P / 1080P). This is quite annoying and has never happened with my other Android devices.

Has anybody else experienced the same issue? Is there a remedy?

Welcome to Android Central! Is there a video stabilization setting for the 5X camera? The 6P has one, but I'm not sure about the 5X. If so, does this happen regardless of stabilization being turned on or off?

I've found with multiple devices that the stabilization feature can sometimes be detrimental, leading to somewhat choppy video at times.
