VZW offering up to 50% off Pixel 2 and XL

I was referring to the link Almeuit posted with the Black Friday deal. Below is the text:

"Starting online Thursday and in stores on Black Friday, get the Google Pixel 2, Google Pixel 2 XL, Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung Galaxy S8+, Samsung Galaxy Note8 and Moto Z2 Force for up to 50% off when you sign up for Verizon unlimited — no trade-in required.* Pair your new phone with a 32 GB iPad for $199 with a new 2-year activation, or $99 when you also purchase an iPhone on device payment. You can also score the new Ellipsis 10 HD for only $29.99 with a two-year agreement."

The asterix:

"* Up to $960 device payment purchase required. Less up to $378 promo credit applied to account over 24 mos.; promo credit ends when balance paid or line terminated/transferred to another plan; 0% APR."

It leads me to believe you'll get 50% off up to a maximum of $378. I want a 128 GB Pixel 2, so at $750 it may still be 50% off ($375). Guess I'll find out online Thursday or in store Friday.

So since the BF deal 50% off deal does not require a trade in, that would make it a better deal, as you could then sell your current phone for additional savings.

Yes if you want or already have the unlimited plan. Otherwise the increase in plan price could make it not worth it

The regular unlimited plan is a $7 increase in my bill and we have 4 lines. The higher unlimited plan shows a $40 increase but don't think that is worth it.

Go unlimited isn't worth it either. Instant de-prioritization is usually a bad thing.

Please clarify the instant de-prioritization. Is that when after a line as reached 22GB then the speed will be slower? If one line reaches 22GB, the other lines that have not reached 22GB will be unaffected, correct? Any other major differences between Go and Beyond?

Go unlimited is put into de-priortization after 1 byte of data is used.

Beyond unlimited each line gets 22 GB before being put into de-priortization.

Of course it depends on your area since you'll only be slowed down when there is congestion and when you are in the de-priortization limit.

If one had to go with an unlimited plan then, it almost seems that the Beyond Unlimited would be the better deal since speed would not be affected, if your willing to pay the extra for that.

I do not think the BF deal gives you 50% off the Pixel 2 XL, only the Pixel. The XL is 35%.

Yep. I was lucky enough to snag the February unlimited plan (when it came out). It basically is the same as Beyond Unlimited but at a cheaper rate.

Is the Google 2 year warranty official? I remember reading they were going to do it but nothing official.

Signing up for unlimited is a deal killer to me. Looks like I'll be sticking with pixel until next year when hopefully the integration with HTC pays off.

I agree, I think it is dumb their deals force you to pick unlimited. That is why I picked mine up yesterday while they still had the deal for 50% if you trade in a S7 and it didn't require me to pick an unlimited plan

I did the same. Was going to wait for Black Friday deals but once I heard the BF deals were no better or only benefitted new accounts or added lines, I went in last night and did the 50% off for trading in my LG6.

Been setting it up and playing with it between Turkey day preparations. Absolutely loving it. (Panda 2XL)

Well that sucks. Thought the BF deal would be better. But the XL is only 35% off and not 50%. And yesterday it was 50% off. Dang it. Would think it would still be 50% off, not less.

As much as I hate bill credits, getting close to 50% off on the Pixel 2 128Gb seems like a good deal.

What do you guys think?

With trade in though. For me that wasn't enough to make it worth it. And the deal for me now isn't enough to make it worth it because as others have said, I have no interest in an unlimited plan. Surely I'm not the only potential customer they're losing because of this. Will be sticking with AT&T and upgrading to the S8 finally. Will get a $300 Target gift card, which for me is as good as cash.
