Wanted to love this phone, but walked out without one

LOL, lets see if nothing can get you off the thunderbolt than I don't think you really are going to like anything. Thunderbolt was the worst phone i have ever tried, light leakage, horrible battery life, 4g connection drops ( this could be due to new 4g launch). Only thing I liked about it was sense and the screen was pretty nice, other than that, it was probably the most overpriced peace of technology I ever bought.

There are way better choice than thunderbolt out there. If you liked the thunderbolt you should:n't :('have a hard time liking the rezound, razr or galaxy.
I hear you. Just think I'm gonna wait a few more months. The bolt is a lot better than it used to be.

I guess we all have our likings. I never ever cared about a camera on a phone. If I can get decent pictures on my camera phone, I am happy. Camera is not my number one concern. 4G, Screen, res are my top three concerns.

I bounce back and forth between smartphones as they come out. I gotta say, the camera on the iPhone and even the Rezound is better (at least IMO) that the Nexus and the screen on the Rezound seemed better to for phones of their size. I don't think it has to do with whether someone prefers iPhone or what not. These are things that can clearly be seen and some of the criticisms of the device before it was released. Having said that, I expected these things. I barely use a camera period and screen difference is not a deal breaker for me. So for right now, I choose the nexus over the other 2. But I always think there will be weaknesses of a device that other devices excel at. So if anyone thinks any other phone beats the Nexus in every area is kidding themselves. And if anyone thinks the nexus beats every other phone in every area is kidding themselves. Guys, don't get all touchy when someone acknowledges the weakness of a device. Just because it's yours doesn't mean it's the best.

Never used the camera on my Palm Pre + and probably won't use the camera on my GN.

My thoughts exactly as I went into the store to look at the phone. I really wanted to like the phone but something about it that made me stick to my 4S. It had the latest 4.0.2 on it and playing around with it, I came away unimpressed. Maybe the long wait or maybe I am not upgrading from an earlier Android phone. One thing is for sure, wait a few weeks and the next "high-end" Android phone will be arriving...

thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm a big camera guy as well.

I think my DX will have to suffice for a little while longer...

Other than taking a snapshot here or there, I'll probably never use the camera on this phone. If I have a moment worth capturing, I'll bring my DSLR. I ran one of the shots from my Nexus through Lightroom 3 and it cleans up quite nicely.

From my initial testing of the camera, it certainly has a problem getting the right white balance. Also, the instant shutter is a gimic at best, you will not have time to stabilize yourself which is the most important thing before taking the shot. Luminance noise is a fraction of what it was on my DroidX so I'm happy with the performance of the camera for what will be very limited use.

i dont carry a purse.. or a fanny pack.. so I dont carry around a high end camera.

my phone, is my camera.. I have hundreds if not thousands of photos and a ton of movies.. no idea how some of you arent using your camera more..

Its not asking to much to have a good camera built into a phone.. phones that are years old have already done it. there is zero excuse.

True, but some people expect, way, I mean way too much form a phone. The pictures look pretty decent to me. How can you expect a phone to out do a camera when its primary task is to make phone calls, browse the web and download apps.

I think the camera is decent. How can you not have an idea. I work and I go to school and I take occasional pics with my friends. Sometimes I don't take pictures for weeks at a time. I guess I have better things to do than complain about my phone camera not giving my professional quality photos.

I took a picture with mine using the auto focus and the picture came out much better then my dx pics did .:)

I also walked out, as I compared the phone to my Dell Streak, and realized I'm hooked on a 5" screen, and that the 4.65" screen is really < 4.5" due to the soft buttons.

I'm also looking for a good camera as I have a child now and being ready to take those pictures of the moment is important, and getting them in good quality.

I agree. I purchased the iphone 4s but was very curious about the new Google Nexus. Yet another cheap, plastic Android phone, although the same cannot be said for the price. Thing is, I wouldn't rely on any significant future software updates to fix the phone or any other deficient operating features. That has been my experience with Android/carrier support in the past and would not expect it to change.

And you can't upgrade the poor weight and balance of this phone (IMO). For me its too big for how I use a phone. I am not sure what 4G does exactly. I suppose it drains your already limited data plan more quickly? Not bagging on others who want this phone its just that I am done with the whole Android thing until something more compelling comes along, and seeing and handling this phone just confirmed my suspicion this was just another Android device. I suppose the iphone OS is tired and boring but it works fantastic and does almost everything I need very well. It will be interesting to see how this Nexus phone holds up. I guess there is always the next one...

iphones suck bro.

....not completely true! Their camera doesn't suck. And I recommend them to non arthritic older people due to their simplicity and minimalism. High tech version of Jiggerbug! Small screen, app drawer look to OS, no live widgets, no real desktop, no 4g LTE, OS that hasn't changed substantially for ages. Yes, that part is true suckage. :D

Dunno IMO no camera on a phone is very good. Even the 4s in low lighting it's plain horrid better than the 4 no doubt. Camera phones in short have no optical zoom and are a small lens and this makes for a poor camera for occasional use it's fine. However a 120 dollar pocket digital will not be surpassed by a smartphone. The nexus is probably a decent camera in terms of a smart phone option but probably due to the hd screen looks worse on the phone.

well this doesn't help me  i've been using the Razr for over two weeks now and i am having a hard time giving it up to get the gnex which was my original intention. if my Razr had my wife's rezound screen i'd keep the razr but alas i'm torn. i've got a gnex waiting for me after work...what to do :)

I had the Razr for a month and got the GN today. First impressions, this was the right move. ICS seems to flow a lot better. I had a Storm2 just before the Razr so it was a big learning curve.

To me, 2.3 had the feel of something that was tweaked/patchworked over a few years. Came accross to me as really "busy". ICS comes accross as simple and elegant.

Can't speak for the camera yet. Everything has worked perfectly so far that I've tried though. No issues whatsoever.
