Was the HTC Thunderbolt a Flop?

Ha. The Charge does have a slightly nicer screen and the battery lasts a little bit longer...but I'd say that's where the advantages end. No Clockwork, no Roms.

I'm running 2.3 on my phone, I have Netflix and Skype, I get great 4G speeds. No reboots...Rooting was easy.

I really have no complaints, other than the glass could be a little tougher. I dropped my phone once and my wife's once...but now I have extra batteries, so that negates the only real negative. ;)

Ummm the charge does not have a locked bootloader so no backdoor trick is needed . Cwm also works and there is a rom out for it called altered beast which basicaly is a voodoo rom and it turns the phone into a beast. I'm still deciding for my wife which phone to get. I want to like thunder bolt but too many issues at this moment, but there are much more roms and themes. The charge it's still new so I will have to wait and how the development community turns out. Stock both phones lag to me which was surprising in the thunder bolt since it has so much ram. The charges lags like a sob stock due to samsungs rfs files, but that can easily change with root and running altered beast. Also the radio seems stronger than the revo and tb, I ran them all side by side, the revo was getting 5-7 mbps less than the charge and the tb was only averaging 2 mbps less. Decisions decisions.

Maybe no locked bootloader, but you have to downgrade to the ED1 software release to root it, so it's pretty much the same song and dance, as far as i can tell.

meh, considering most stores sold more Thunderbolts than they did iPhone 4's, I'd hardly consider that a flop. Not to mention the development community is already a ways ahead of anything the Charge or Revolution will ever see. I'm sure just as many if not more people are perfectly happy with their purchase.
