Was your Nexus 7 defective or in Perfect condition?

Holy Moley, man. After 5 or 10 (or less) it may have been more prudent to wait a couple months for the second batch. Going through 2 a day seem a little much.

Lol I said my 21st was fine but it has a permanent VERY small screen rise top left side, I can't budge it, move it and it doesn't make any noises.

The many returns were actually easy and fast, after the first 5 I just opened them right there and did immediate exchange. Love this tablet, especially Google Wallet.

Must be a later batch. I got a later batch and all is good here.

Seems the one I'm on now is indeed from a different series. I recommended the tablet to everyone I know but at the same time told them to check the SSN before purchase and check it over thoroughly right off.

Plenty of people have posted photos here and xda. Are some of the posts bs? I don't know. I am about to be on my third tomorrow. I'll check the screen lift outside the store, and take it back immediately. Right now, it's not that big a deal to be honest. It isn't causing any problems really. However, I don't want to have it for six months and the problems get worse, etc.

Objective analysis from Amazon? I don't think so. I'd give it 5 stars out of actual use that I've done with it, and 3.5 out of quality of the build at this point.

Why does your rating have more validity than the dozens who rated it on Amazon? In fact every similar site for user reviews had similar results, rating it as the best Android tablet available.

I can't even notice the screen lift TBH. I mean, I'm sure it's there, but it's nothing that's standing out. No creaking or anything--that I did check for ;).

Yup. I received one after they were all sold out, so either it's a new new stock or old new stock. Regardless, no complaints on this end.

Objective analysis from actual amazon customers?! Crazy talk!

It's crazy to think that the reviews from there are more reliable than seeing people's posts and images referring to the defects.

i didn't say it has more validity in a full respect. People here and other places are putting out the info of their experiences with this. How many of those people have the issues and didn't post about it, didn't know it was an actual problem, etc.? It doesn't make their reviews any better than the ones you find here or over at xda.

I went and exchanged mine this morning, not too long ago. I opened it at the CS counter, and you could see the entire screen lift on the left side of that. I took a pic of the receipt on that exchange. They brought another one up for me. Since they had a long line behind me I told them I'd open it when I got home. I have a receipt for this one too. So, this is my third one. Here's the pics on it. I took a pic of the lip, and then another just further up so you can see the difference in the flush part, to where the lip starts. All three of these are labeled from C60.

Mine's C70 followed by a bunch of numbers. Hmm. Would love to get some build dates.

I'll hold onto this one for 14 days, since it has a 15 day return policy. They only have one left since the four they had, I got three of 'em lol. Maybe they'll get a newer build date and that will increase the chances of getting a non-defective one. I hope so, because I really like the performance, size, etc. of this.

OMG. ...I just noticed on the back of mine is a small white dot about 1/4th the size of a pin head! I'm outraged, I tell you.. ..outraged!

I presume you're getting devices from an earlier build/same batch. If the quality is ok for you, then keep it--it's awesome. If not, try buying from the Play Store and getting a C70 model/SSN :).

The only thing that has stopped me from doing exactly that is the turn around time for returns and replacements. We'll see how it goes I guess. I'll be going to Augusta, GA tomorrow and if they have any later builds, I'll return there.

My 21st one was a C70 but I just had to take that back too. Didn't get a replacement. Apparently as I was reading a book in Play Books my eyes started twitching. It got worse and eventually got a bad headache.

Couple hours later I resume reading, shortly after my eyes start twitching again. Turns out the screen has a flickering problem. Tried the solutions that were posted, none worked. Apparently caused by a magnetic strip too close to the battery. Seriously?

I'll wait until another 7" Nexus tablet comes around I guess. :-\

Sounds like catastrophic bad luck. My apologies.

Sounds like terrible luck to say the least. Luckily I've only had a few things over the past decade that had to be returned and the replacements have always been top notch. This is th first device that I've had to return more than once. :(

Mine was in perfect condition lucky me. I picked up my 16Gb model from GameStop on last Friday.

I returned mine the day it was opened (was a gift) spent 4 hours trying to connect but could not get it past the initial setup screen (WiFI selection) would save the settings but not actually connect, several routers and every setting on router tested. Nexus would reflect each change, you could see a huge list of all my neighbors units, it saw each protocol change WEP, WPA etc but would never actually connect.

I have read other devices with Jelly Bean having issues but usually solved by forget settings and re-adding. I am guessing my unit was faulty.

8GB Unit
Serial had C70K at the start.

Purchased the N7 directly from Google. Arrived quickly in perfect condition even though the shipping container and packing were pretty flimsy and poor for a pricey tech device. Quality hardware. Thumbs up.

My first day out-of-the-box N7 experience was not a happy one - couldn't connect. After reading through topics on this forum the following day, I disabled MAC addressing and set a specific channel on the router and BINGO! Perfect connectivity.

Google needs to provide some useful basic printed WiFi connectivity instructions/solutions or a link to troubleshooting WiFi issues for this device. It's not a good thing when users are stumped by a device that will not proceed past the initial start-up screen. Most users are not tech-savvy enough to access or adjust their routers, nor do they anticipate having to do so with new devices that purport to be so "user-friendly". Just sayin'.

I'm impressed with the N7 and happy with my purchase. :D

Well I thought I was one of the lucky ones to not have any issues with my 8gb Nexus 7 but the couple weeks after setting it up saw the device having increasingly worse issues. It started locking up and showing a white screen with a black bar and then a weird "low low battery logo" message in white in the top left of the screen and then shutting down (with plenty of battery). A few days ago, it got even worse though. The night before last it took more than 7 hours to charge with the stock charger (and any other charger I tried) and was on a reboot cycle for awhile. I finally decided yesterday to send it in for a replacement as I believe I'm one of the rare cases of having a faulty usb port as a reason for most of my problems (though I also had some screen flickering). I sure hope the replacement is perfect! The return process does make me nervous with the whole pending charges thing where I can't use $200 until they get my old device. Yikes!

My speaker crackles and pops every 20-50 seconds even when I'm just surfing or reading a page or anything else. I bought it at Walmart so I will be exchanging it when they get some in stock.

Everything else is great.

I bought mine at Sam's Club in mid July. Its been perfect, right out of the box. No problems whatsoever.

The thing has become my "everything tool". I've been so pleased with it that I sold my iPad, and my daughter, son, and sister have bought N7s, too.

All of their units have been perfect too, BTW.

You must have something set weird on your home router. My N7 has auto-connected to dozens of different WiFi networks, effortlessly. No futzing required.
