Way too many issues, who's jumping ship once S22 Ultra launches?

Going to try my P6 with a TPU instead of tempered glass....if that doesn't improve the FP sensor I am out of here.

I'm definitely keeping my 6P. I've had no issues with it whatsoever and I enjoy using this phone every day to the point that I have not picked up my ZF3 much.. I'm actually thinking of selling the fold and jumping back on for the next one, but regardless I'm going to keep the pixel... We shall see if I take a look at the s22 Ultra as I've always enjoyed my Note phones...

The January update has definitely fixed the major issues I was having. So I'm definitely enjoying the P6P more now. I hate to suggest it but maybe the OP just needs to start from scratch and rest the device. Especially if you've done a restore or device transfer when setting up your P6.

I am definitely keeping Pixel 6. For me, it's been one of the best phones I have ever owned.

I always say this to friends & family that ask my advice about phones (and any other tech): it's your money, use something that you are happy with and does not cause you aggravation regardless of what anyone else thinks or likes. If you keep a device hoping a magical software update will make you like it, you will normally end up disappointed. If you aren't happy with your Pixel 6 sell it, trade it, return it and get something that you do like.

I've been waiting for a stock Android phone with Samsung technology, 120 refresh rate, super resolution screen with a large battery to last all day and then some. Pixel 6 offers all of that. I know the S21 Ultra will be an amazing phone. Samsung always puts out the best phones. I've owned almost every Samsung since the S9. The only one I didn't have was any of the Z folds. Every other Samsung I've had.
The Pixel 6 pro is the only top tier stock Android phone. I can't see myself going back to Samsung on this next iteration.

I was at work when I started the thread. Had to go, that's why I just said I am. LOL

Two rare issues since the January update.

Data. Basically randomly resets where it takes a minute to connect again. It happened four times.

Play Store. Unresponsive, I can't install or update apps. Twice I had to CLEAR DATA.

This is the first flagship where I have issues like this since the iPhone 4 and Samsung S4.

I hate that I wasted my upgrade too. I did get a great deal so hopefully I can sell it at cost.

Which carrier do you have? Are you on 5G or 4G? 5G on T-Mobile in my area is still subpar, so I keep the phone on 4G. If 5G is iffy in your area, maybe the phone was having some connection difficulties.

When you say the Play Store was unresponsive, you mean that nothing happened if you opened it? Or just that nothing was happening when you wanted to install or update apps? That to me sounds more like a glitch in the Play Store app, Download Manager, or Google Play Services (rather than a hardware or firmware glitch).

Did you also make sure you have the latest Google Play system update?

The pixel 6 doesn't run "stock Android", it uses a skin.

It's a relatively light skin, but a skin nonetheless.

So long as there is any version of TouchWiz left in Samsung devices I will never go back to them.

I also resent all of the bloatware they place on their phones.

As I said, a light skin, But a skin nonetheless.

I used to consider it a plus too, but post Android 12 it's a negative.
No i agreed , i said true in beginning . But thats why they refer to them "Stock Android"
I dont have any complaints on Android 12 on my devices.

What would a pure AOSP phone even look like these days? Would it still have the same look as a Lollipop or Marshmallow? I would think that they wouldn't spend a lot of time making it look all snazzy.

Yeah nexus is probably the closest

I have started a yearly tradition of ordering the latest and greatest Samsung flagship and then returning it for one reason or another LOL Maybe this is the year the tradition is broken and I keep Sammy's latest offering ... We shall see

I'd look at a Moto or Nokia, do Nokia still make phones? As probably the closest to AOSP... though my info might be out of date.

I miss my Nexus 4 :(

From what I remember of my flashing days WAY back in the day pure AOSP is extremely bare bones - no Gapps at all (not even the Play Store (or Market as it was called back then LOL)). Nowadays I think flashing something like GrapheneOS would be the closest to running pure AOSP

Im one of the rare ones that didn't have issues so staying with my Pixel pro , plus no interest in s22u i still have my fold ³ and Note 20u
Same here. No issues with my Pixel 6 and I also have the S21 Ultra. I'm good.

Yeah thats why said Nexus but had Google apps
But i personally wouldn't want it that bare bones

Oh Samsung's come a long way since TouchWiz. Their software is actually pretty great. So much so that I kinda can't believe there was mention of such a thing. I figured we had all moved on.

The scars run deep.:p
