Way too many issues, who's jumping ship once S22 Ultra launches?

So, Verzion, ATT or T-mobile sell you the phone with zero interest out of the goodness of their hearts or because they love their customers?

No, they do it because you sign a contract and over the two or three year period pay more for the services you receive than if you went to an MVNO that was using their towers. And yes the plans are the same with or without the sale of the phone, but the contract guarantees you are a customer for x-number of months and if broken, you pay to leave.

Although I am not going to research their rates, I'm sure they are making a lot more on the over charges than they would if they financed they phone. They are using their money to purchase the phones from the manufactures, thus they tying up their money for phones.

There is a reason people need to finance phones; no doubt. But even if Zero Interest, believe me, the carriers are making a profit on the sale of that phone to you because they only love your money and they have no hearts.

And yes, I know not all are in the position to purchase expensive phones outright. And all have the right to get an expensive phone if that is what they desire and that is what they can afford to pay over a contractual period of time. Not my place to say good or bad, just to say. not for me. Only contact I have is on a mortgage and that is for tax purposes more than anything else. (Showing my age, but I can remember when credit card interest, as well as interest from other "consumer loans" was tax deductible.)

Carriers used to give phones away for free, which is how I got my LG G4. I think phones are a Lost Leader for them. They don't need to make a profit on them because they do in signing you up and charging your monthly Service Fee and many other, Nickle and Dime, other charges. Financing a phone costs no more than paying for it up front. It's a nice option.

I pay the same flat rate, no additional charges or fees, whether I finance a phone or not, so, no, they aren't making more off me if I finance a phone.

Since I have no plans to switch carriers as I get outstanding signal and service from this one, and have done for over a decade, I see no reason to worry that I'm "locked in" for two years if I finance a phone. Should I ever choose to leave my carrier the only fee I have to pay is to pay off the remaining amount due on the phone if I finance one.

It may be different at different carriers but, for me, there is no downside to spreading the cost of a phone out over a couple of years if I finance one.
I completely agree. Whether I finance a phone over 24-30 months or buy it outright, I'm still going to be paying a monthly fee for a phone. It's just part of my budget. Maybe it makes people feel better to pay the full cost up front or they have certain requirements where they need to do so. But I plan on staying with my carrier indefinitely. Someone who pays up front has to keep their phone for the length of time it would take someone else to finance it to make it worth it. If two people buy the same phone and plan to keep it the same amount of time until they're both paid off, then it doesn't really matter which way is better. For me, I just consider the monthly payment for a phone part of my budget.

I mean, yes and no..

There are a lot of people who can't afford $600 outright who can afford $25 a month for 24 months.

The vast majority of people who have a mortgage couldn't afford a house outright, either.
I am paying £32 a month for my 6 Pro. I will save extra and pay it off early.

P6 AOD Finger print bug is something I just can't get passed. Never had this problem on any Samsung. I realize google will likely patch this bug. But I really want that S pen this time around.

The camera on the Samsung phones are just not good enough for every day use as in real everyday photos like pictures of your kids or pets. Reviewers seem more interested in how good the zoom is (I could not care less) and rarely focus on everyday stuff.

I picked up an open box S20 (same camera hardware as S21) and it is just blurry/smudged vision more often than not. Shame as I really like it otherwise.

I am not convinced newer hardware in ths S22 will solve this as it is a processing choice by Samsung.

I have the same experience with Samsung devices ... Always try them and for the most part love them, but the camera kills it for me every time.

You only have to pay off the phone to leave, that is it..

I know that! But if you pay off, why finance? If after a year you pay off you could end up paying quite a hefty extra amount over a year period. If the plan costs 30 bucks more per month than an MVNO that's 30 more than if you paid cash.

But the plans don't cost more. My plan costs the same no matter how I buy my phone. Every plan I have looked at the past few years costs the same, no matter how the phone is purchased.

So is Google doing anything about these issues?

Hopefully, Samsung continues their credits/promotions with the S22U, otherwise I'll have to stick with this and wait in the fall for Z Flip4.

Not only the return window was over when I started to experience these issues but the deal I got was too good. I have no problem selling my phones.

Which issues?

I'm sure they're aware and are trying to fix them. Just don't know when they'll roll out.

I do think that the Pixel 6 Pro is the buggiest phone I've had in a long while. Don't recall having a phone with more issues than this.

I hope so. Samsung had amazing deals last year with the S21Ultra which is why I snapped one up. If they have the same, I'll definitely move on from the Pixel and get one. And I'll hold off on getting a Pixel 7 unless it seems like it's not so buggy.

I think its Android 12 , No?

The android space is I think pick your preferred compromise which is really frustrating. If you want a reliable CAMERA you can trust then IMO the Pixel is still the only game in town. The whole Huawei thing is a shame as I think on the P20/P30 their cameras were really very good.

The Pixel has it own compromises and camera aside I think the S21U is the better device almost across the board, DITO the Oneplus 9 Pro.

Sadly I think you're right about almost every Android phone having its compromises. But then again, iOS has its compromises for us Android users.

Could be, I'm not sure. All I know is the end user experience hasn't been great.

Exactly. In the end it doesn't matter if it's hardware or software, there is no excuse for the incompetence shown by Google. Samsung straightened out all the creases in Android 12, there's no good reason for Google to have not done the same.

First, although S20 vs S21 may have the same cameras' glass and sensors, but the software between the two has been revised. The same glass on the Pixel 5 as previous models produces some of the best photos!

As for blurry fur, I just saw a few posted photos, on this forum, of animals with terrible fur and they appear to be stationary; granted indoors but not running and the fur and the photos were blurry. And here I thought the Pixel 6 cannot take bad photos of animals. Learned something new today.

As for 99 percent of the photos I have seen taken with the Pixel 6 (granted, the ones posted online are usually the best, and that is true for any phone/camera) are great shots. Many are great because they are of fantastic scenery or cute kids, but still very good. But seen just as good of photos taken with a S21. In fact, there is a guy who takes some of the best mountains scenes with his S21 I have seen anywhere online.

Just saying, is it the photographer or the device? I have a friend who takes some darn good shots of his dog running with a S21 and he has sent me some terrible ones too.

Buying most current Samsung releases, the forums after release are full of Samung sucks, their camera can't take any movement, over satyurated, over HDR'ed, too much skin smoothing in selfies and the list goes on and on.

The old addage is a photo is taken 6" behind the camera.

It's sad that users are experiencing software bugs and glitches with their Pixel 6 devices! Sure, I'm quite intrigued by the Samsung Galaxy S22... But as another user above me stated, I do start to miss my Pixel experience/start to wish my Samsung was more Pixel-like after a while. But I love both experiences, and sometimes even miss Samsung's UI (and I *never* thought I'd say that!). Only time will tell which phone I'll get. I'm holding out to see what OnePlus, the Pixel 7, and the S22 are like before leaving my precious awesome-green Pixel 5.
