Anyone tried this simpler method posted xda:
Simpler install method:
DG Just gave us the Go-ahead so, A simpler way to install, uses the same method as DG's ADEO installer.
1. Download The Mod Files here: HERE
2. Hook up your phone via usb with ADB enabled
3. run INSTALL.bat from the unzipped files
4. sit back, relax, wait until it reboots (can take upto 5min, be patient!!)
5. Read the disclaimer below
6. Enjoy!
According to the forum, it doesn't require root or deodexed ?
When Motorola releases an update, how easy is to go back to original so that we can update the phone ?
Anyone tried plugging in a usb keyboard into micro-usb via adapter? I know bluetooth keyboard and mouse work fine ..
I just finally successfully did the hack and got it working. Tore my hair out a bit, but its well worth it. I dont believe that has anything to do with Motorola sending out any updates and even if it does, there update would override the files if it pertained to them. And then, we would just re-do it again. At least thats what I would assume.
You can actually use the phones keyboard and it has a trackpad on it. But Im gonna get a cheap bluetooth keyboard and Mouse off ebay.
Edit: Also, Im not Deodexed. But I am rooted. But you still wouldnt need to be rooted as they say. I wouldnt not believe what they say. These guys are Amazing!
yup, i amt he same, rooted but not deodexed, but neither is required.
definitely going to pick up a BT KB because it's a little annoying to keep switching between KB and trackpad mode on the phone, but i have to admit it's pretty damn convenient that they allowed the phone to act as both.
I totally agree with you. Its nice to have it start up and allow it to do that. Did Motorola actually do that or the Devs? I think thats Motorola right? Do you know if any bluetooth keyboard and mouse will work? I just want to get cheap ones on ebay if so.
Just so happened I finally received the HDMI dock from Amazon, $89.99 free shipping. Not cheap but I have just plugged in a regular USB wireless keyboard with a built in touchpad, it works so far. I think $90 is worth it so I don't have to hold the phone with the HDMI cable attached.
Unfortunately the little remote isn't working so far, it is too small anyway.
i'll probably buy the media dock & car dock for around $75 with my discount. may actually go in tomorrow to get it. i'll probably never use it, but i at least want to see how it works once.

Okay. Then after that once that you try it, you can sell it to me for half off![]()
if you just want to see how it works then use the dock-less method. it took literally a few minutes and that was it. alternatively find a larger AT&T store that has the dock/monitor/KB/mouse setup. I did that last weekend and it convinced me NOT to buy the dock and just try the free method instead.
honestly the webtop is limited to 1280x720 and it just seems a bit small for browsing. firefox takes up too much space with its top menu bar and status bar (which is why i use chrome on my windows machine), and so actual viewable web space is pretty small - i'd say about 75% of the screen. for example, the androidcentral.com front page looks way too big even at almost full-screen (see my screenshots on page 3). i hope they enable 1080P output soon. but even at that, performance won't be that great because at 720p full-screen flash vids like youtube get choppy.
i buy a crap load of devices, but i hate to tinker. rooting my nexus one was relatively easy, but it was a process i never wanted to do again. i know this method doesn't require it, but some tinkering needs to be done.
Originally it was an involved process. Now the process is this:
1) set into ADB mode (settings -> applications -> developers -> enable USB debugging)
2) plug into USB cable, run install file
3) wait for reboot
it's almost as simple as one-click root.
you've talked me in to it... lol. i'm probably gonna get my homegirl to get the docks for me, so in the meantime, i guess i'll tinker, just a tad. ha.Originally it was an involved process. Now the process is this:
