Storm Clouds Ahead!
Today is one of my childhood best friend's birthday. I talked to her for a little bit earlier, wished her a happy birthday and reminisced about the old days back in Rhode Island. We were like two peas in a pod at school and traveled together to Cambodia during high school. Though we lead separate lives now, hers filled with the joys of motherhood and mine, daily walks with my furry kids to the parks and piers of NYC.
I often think back to a story she told me on a rainy day walking home from school. Buffalos don't turn away from the dark clouds of an impending storm, instead they run towards the storm. Why? I asked. These buffalos know that it is better to charge through the storm, to quickly get to clearer pastures on the other side. Running away would prolong the amount of time they would suffer in a storm.
So whenever I am feeling down, I remember to charge through the day, through the storm, like a buffalo.
I was at the pier with the dogs when these heavy storm clouds rolled in on a setting sun. I used my Samsung Note 2 to snap this beautiful piece of mother nature.
