Seattle morning fog. Taken with a Moto X.

We've done "clouds" as our photo contest previously, but this week we're looking for something a little different — "fog" — instead. Fog can be spooky in the night or calming and beautiful when the sun is out over it, and either way we're sure you can take some great pictures of fog this week.

We're picking just one winner this week, but the prize is something great — a new Moto G (2014)!

Entering is easy. Just drop your entry in a post below. Tell us what Android you used to get the picture, and any back story you want to add to it. We'll pick a winner Tuesday (December 9) night at 11:59 PM ET, and announce them on the blog with next Wednesday's contest.

  • Pictures must be taken with an Android device
  • Pictures must be uploaded to the contest thread. I'm not running all over the Internet to track them down.
  • You have to tell us what device you used to take the picture, and any special software you might have used. Editing your pictures is fine — this is art.
  • Feel free to add a little back story — we want to know how the picture came to be.
  • You must have used a valid email address to register here at AC, so I know how to contact the winner.
  • Only one entry per week per person.

Good luck, everyone!

Shot this on the train while on my way to work. Started pouring rain afterwards, got soak and wet. :(
Samsung Galaxy S4, edited with VSCOCam.

The fog rolled into to Lower Manhattan and play crazy tricks with the sun. This is the World Trade Center [Freedom Tower]. The fog wrapped around the building and the wind pushed it up as the sun reflected off it.

Taken with the Note 3 - no modifications done .

This was a quick shot at a stop light on my way to class one day. Never have I been so terrified of driving in my life, but it was almost surreal driving through it.

It was snapped with a really old Motorola Android phone (one without a cool name), and there is a slight Instagram filter on it to show just how deep the fog was.

Foggy morning at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, CA. We were trying to kayak in the lake, but were not sure with so much fog. But we went on anyway, and then it rained. Great atmosphere and experience.

Taken on a Thl T11, processed a bit in Snapseed.

Took this picture of my brother before going off to school. It was the foggiest day that i have ever seen. Shot with HTC One M8. I can't recall what i used to edit it.IMG-20141002-WA0003.jpg

LG G3; last of the morning fog through some trees. Google did a little editing and framing on its own and I like it.

6am walking to work with nothing but fog and a deserted street. Tried editing this one, but nothing captured the modern day "in-the fog-by-gaslight" look as well as the unaltered impromptu picture by my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Fog rises at the mountains, while a rainbow emerges in the distance as sun comes out after some heavy rain.

Taken with a Nexus 4 and edited with Instagram.

This was taken with my Nexus 5. I was leaving UC Santa Cruz Bookstore, and it just looked so nice with the fog in between the trees, and the people moving at the bottom.

I took this picture back in January of this year with my Nexus 5 through a car window while riding away at 60mph from Oconee Nuclear Station in upstate South Carolina. The body of water is Lake Keowee and I just happened to look out the window as I was passing by. It just looked so eerie, I really loved how grey everything was. I cropped and applied the B2 filter in VSCOCam which helped even out the grey-ness and make it even more gloomy.

This is from a recent trip to Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia, Canada. It was taken on my Sony Xperia Z1s, and no edits were made:

Moto X 2014, stock camera no edits.

This was along the bike path that forms a small portion of my commute to work. It's even more beautiful now with all the snow, but this is my only fog picture as of yet. :)
