Welcome to the all-new Android Central Forums - Please report your bugs here!

I can't add a particular forum, like Google Pixel 7 Pro, to my Home screen like before.

It looks like there's now a filesize limit for attached photos? I tried to insert or attach a regular photo from my Pixel 7 Pro, and it said the image was too big. This wasn't a problem on the old platform (I'm assuming the images were automatically downsized on that platform?). It'd be a pain to have to manually downsize each image just to share on the forums -- any way to fix this?

Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to search a forum thread for a word or string of characters any more. (I was looking for that function so that I didn't repeat someone else who might have the same bug report in this thread.)

I've increased it a bit for everyone. Anything larger than 5MB however, you'll have to use something like IMGUR. The image uploader offers you the option of uploading a file or adding a link.

The search bar offers many features for searching including threads, forums and specific members. It's contextual, so some of the options will change depending where on the site you are. If you're in a thread, it will offer the option to search the thread, etc. Other search options can be found under Advanced.

Now I'm finding that the Tapatalk app doesn't pick up the quote anymore. Whether from highlighting the post then tapping the reply arrow above, or tapping "QUOTE" below the post itself. It just pulls up a blank edit box.

At least I'm seeing the white bar on the side of threads with new posts again. That was not there earlier this morning.

Tapatalk has bugs. The long and short of it is we offer folks the ability to use it because people insist on it, but we have next to no control over it and its bugs. If something works on the site, but is broken in Tapatalk, there's not exactly a whole lot we can do other than suggesting to try the browser version.

I prefer Tapatalk for two reasons: I'm almost always visiting any forums via mobile whilst doing something else (watching TV, eating dinner, etc), so I'm not near a PC; and I belong to other forums that have nothing to do with Future or mobile devices at all.

Using a browser to view a forum on a mobile device is still clunky and doesn't look as good, it doesn't matter what site it is. Tapatalk looks better.

I understand why people use it. The problem is the issues it causes at times. If something is broken in Tapatalk, but not on the site itself, there is very little site owners can do to fix it. That just creates frustration because people using Tapatalk just assume it's the site, when it's really not. Most of the time, it's something to do with Tapatalk be it a bug in their app, their plug-in or something with their servers.

Just like the quotes thing, it was never a site issue to fix. The fix has to come from an update to the Tapatalk plug-in they offer and that takes time because it needs to be reported to Tapatalk, they need to investigate what's going on, then they have to figure out how to fix it and then release an updated plug-in. Then we have to download that plug-in, test it out some more to ensure it's right and won't break anything else, then upload it and hope it works.

How was this even accomplished before?
Maybe I wasn't as clear as I should have been. When I would look at a forum thread via Google Chrome, I could add the forum page to my Home screen via the Menu choice "Add to home screen.) That menu choice doesn't seem to be available anymore. I do use Tapatalk, but for some forum threads I like using Chrome and the home screen link.

Hey,

did you change theme of the forum only or whole engine? I am not sure if it was running on XenForo before or was that different software.

Whole engine has been changed. It was vBulletin before.

Gotcha. The whole site works as a PWA now, so adding to the home screen just make it look / work similar to an app. I'm guessing with that in place, it may not allow individual threads/forums because it's expecting the forums as a whole.
