what a let down TB sucks!

As far as I'm concerned, ALL 3rd party skins suck, and that includes Sense. Give me stock or give me death.

Well this processor will be better than the moto omap and give strong competition to the hummingbird and beat both of em in battery life. Because, it is a next gen snapdragon like in the MT4G or G2 along with that comes adreno 205 which is awesome.

Of course youre not going to have EVERYTHING that all the other phones have, you never will. Youre not missing out on much with the HDMI, and in all other aspects this phone will beat the evo, ill attest that quadrant score to a pre-release system on the phone.

You could wait untill a better phones come out, but by the time that happens some EVEN BETTER will be around cornor and the waiting cycle continues. Get it now and be happy, im still happy with my Evo 4G 6 months later even tho it doesnt have a SAMOLED, other processors beat it, and multiple devices are faster with better battery life.

Know why im happy? Because its still a good phone, something will always be around the cornor and you cant lust for something for trivial reasons.

"OMG, it has a NFC chip i gotta have it!" You cant even use it yet really dude... "IDC, i want it nowwwww"

^ Get my point?

OH, and for the last time its based off of the DESIRE HD, NOT THE EVO!

Yep and its official, while the Thunderbolt will not be a failure it definitely will be a miss. This is bad timing for this phone. Unless the Bionic will be released sometime this summer, the Thunderbolt will underachieve for what is to be considered a flag ship phone. Even Chad OchoCinco is tweeting about the Bionic. Oh well, back to MOTO I go.

I'll take the thunderbolt over the Bionic. The TB has 4g and is big. I honestly don't care if it has dual core or whatever. I not running quake on the thing lol. And hardly doubt it will have a problem running angry birds during my lunch break lol. I hope this means the thunderbolt is coming out sooner. If so, i could get it instead of the Droid x.

The Bionic has 4g, a 4.3 inch screen and a dual core processor. (probably Tegra) It is Motorola's foil to the TB.

I know its big and has 4g. What i mean is if the TB comes out sooner, i'd rather get that. I don't see how the dual core would benefit me when all i do is browse the web and play casual games every now and then. It's not worth me waiting for.

The Thunderbolt is gonna be...smaller? They're both 4.3 inch phones.

Granted, if I bought the TB 2 months ago, and saw the ad for the Bionic, I wouldn't be too compelled to get it. but with both phones seemingly being on a collision course, I have a hard time looking at both phones on the shelf, and choosing the inferior hardware.

Also, a huuuuge advantage to dual core processing is battery life. The hardware of the TB is based off of the Desire HD, which I haven't heard the greatest of reviews about in terms of battery performance.

How would anyone know if dual core will help battery life on phones? Unless youre in korea and have the Lg 2X?....

I for one think its gonna murder battery power like OJ simpson. Juss sayin'

Now that, i didn't know lol. And i wasn't saying i would choose 1 over the other if per se. I mean if the TB comes out soon and the Bionic doesn't come out until the summer. I'd rather get the TB.

Fancy stuff aside, the thing that catches my eye most about the Bionic is the resolution. That is what I am looking for in the TB.

I was so excited about the thunderbolt until I saw the official info on the bionic. Let's hope the dolt specs are better than listed.

That's where it becomes convoluted. People automatically assume that, because a chip is dual core, it's doing twice as much work all the time and, therefore, uses twice the power.

However, the proper theory is that dual-core chips have lower power draw and can (when utilized properly) do twice the work in half the time, and THAT'S where the battery life savings comes in (because it only runs half as much as a normal processor).

Kicker is: Froyo and Gingerbread aren't written "properly" to utilize dual core processes at 100% efficiency. Furthermore, since so many factors go into battery life, it's a difficult measurement to quantify. But still, the theory stands that dual core procs take less power

If the TB was coming out in a couple of weeks and the Bionic in the summer...yea, I could see me getting a TB now. I'm with you on that one.

Thank you for the explanation. You said it better than I would have. I'd also like to add, that Motorola will likely launch the Bionic with its own software like the D2/DX, so there may be a possibility that they have taken the necessary tweaks to utilize the new hardware-at least, that's a theory of mine. Do you think that the lack of support for it within Android is too big a hurdle for manufacturers to overcome? I mean, we've gotten multi touch, flash(lite), TV and HDMI out, and video conferencing all before Android included the proper API's to (officially)allow this in their SDK. Could the same thing be possible for dual core processors?

The "maps and navigation" thing also leads me to believe this is false (or just a sloppy error). Also: non-vanilla devices probably won't start dropping with 2.3 for a little while yet (keep in mind that no device but the Nexus S has it so far). Also, I don't think we'll see dual core for a while yet. Yes, there will likely be plenty of dual core devices announced at CES, but they probably won't actually be released until mid-year.

Last year HTC signed on TomTom as their integrated GPS app, so no google maps, but you can still d/l them.

Wait and see what the screen specs are on the TB. If its the same 800x480 as every other HTC megaphone, you'd be better off getting the Bionic.

That's the difference. Everyone is bashing the Thunderbolt without realizing that it will be out very very soon. The Bionic and the Optimus Black/S won't be out till summer. The bionic is scheduled for Q2 2010, which is (I believe) April-June. The Thunderbolt will likely be out before the end of the month or early next month.

exactly the bionic looks good but it says Q2, which given the typical releases will probably end of Q2 so you are talking 5 months out. The TB is in Verizon's inventory systems already and i would be it is out by the end of the month. As long as the battery gets me through the day i'm good i can throw it on the charger each night...and yes its not a dual core but its will be a new generation processor from the evo which was named the best phone of 2010, i'll take an upgraded evo for verizon anyday

Don't you mean 2011? ;)
