What am I doing wrong? Or is this camera just THAT bad?

Is this a hardware issue...or software? If it's software, I'd imagine Samsung is already working on updates to fix a handful of early adopters issues.
I think it is a software issue. The funny thing is that most of the reviewers have gone out of their way to talk about how impressed they are with the camera. I agree it is not up to my expectations but if a software update improves things you've pretty much got a winner on everything else already.

I'm assuming software with the pics. (Can't say for sure with the call drop issue I've experienced but won't get into that too much as this thread was started about pictures).
Seeing I noticed this on the Note 9, I have to imagine that it's by design on Samsung's part. Either way, not willing to gamble over a $1000

So you've returned your phone?

My camera does what I need it to do. Takes good photos on the go. It's not my main camera.

If the camera were the main reason for me buying a smartphone, I'd never own one, because none of them can hold candle to my Nikon. But everyone's needs will be different

S10 camera =B
Everything else is near perfect.

I think it does a great job. Had our Rogue detailed this past weekend.

I've not started the process yet, but I will be returning it, yes. Not loving the camera coupled with horrible phone call experiences the past few days does not have me feeling too good.

Yeah sounds like you have a bad unit all around. I haven't had any of these issues. Bummer...

It does do a great job in daylight /bright light. Average to low light indoors is just ok. Though if you're not comparing or haven't compared with anything else it'll look fine.

Just started a thread on Pro-Mode, but thought I'd add this here also. I feel like Pro-Mode is solving a lot of the issues I had with the camera. Don't know if anyone else is having success but I've got the contrast and color balance where I'm happy and I'm getting a lot less washed out noise... As long as I touch the screen to focus.

I've been playing around with it as well and liking the results.

I find that I have to touch the screen to focus however. For some reason the autofocus doesn't seem to work as well in pro mode. Now, that could be related to software processing and not actually focus but I can't tell.
