What are the benefits in rooting my GSIII?!

I have deleted a map with foto's and the only way to retrieve them is by rooting my samsung galaxy s3 so the ums becomes available for foto recoverie. But i am a nuub when it comes to these kind of things and i am scared that i wil brick my phone.
Is there another way to get to the ums without rooting my phone ?

I rooted my phone and I have no experience with Android OS at all. I just followed the instructions in the first post it was easy.

Can some one tell me if there is a difference between a samsung galaxy sprint s3 and the Samsung galaxy s3 gt i9300 ?
Can i stil root the gt i9300 the same way as the sprint ?

Yes there is a big difference... No you can't use the files in the guide here on the Sprint forum. While the method should work the files are different.
