What are your current gripes with the Pixel / XL?

Don't know if it's an XL thing or a Gmail App thing, but I hate, hate, hate that the LED does not activate when I get an email. If Gmail does use the LED notification and I might just have it set up wrong, I'm begging someone to set me in the right direction.

You can turn the ambient light on. Go to notifications, click the cog and select. Mine works

Haven't received my phone yet, but I'm irked that the pixel is getting out benchmarked by the iPhone 7. But from all of the reviews the performance is not lacking, and will be a significant step forward from my sgs6 with touchwiz beginning to drive me crazy.

All of the Google services actually are available on iOS. Many apps are even better. The handy keyboard app GBoard isn't available on Android all.
Oh okay good to know. It's been a while since my last iOS experience. I'm sure you still can't do things like setting your default navigation app to Google Maps, and setting your default search engine to Google though. There's definitely reasons I stick with Android anymore :-)

You mean pulse notification light? Ambient display is in the Display menu, and as far as I know that just means the screen will turn on once when a notification is received. It doesn't say anything about the LED notification light.

Yes, it seems silly but you have to activate the notification LED in the settings before it will actually start working.

Yeah that is true. Unfortunately Apple doesn't let you change default apps. I hope this will change sometime. But luckily some third party app developers do. For example I use a third party mail app which let's me choose, in which app I want to open web links. :-)

Benchmark tests aren't everything. This phone is FAST. I don't care how it scores relative to another device, I just care how it actually performs when I need it to do something.

Month view calendar widget. Not sure why Google's first flagship phone would have less access to Google stuff. The chat assistant told me to download a third party app. I said my note7, s7e and lgg4 all had it, why doesn't Google have this on Google's own device. Honestly why would a calendar app not have it in any sense. I have the 2x3 app but not the 5x5. The chat guy said the developers are going to include that in future updates and that he was going to forward my info.
Try Today Calendar. It looks like the Samsung calendar app.

sorry I called it the wrong thing, but either way thats how you get the little led in the ear piece to blink for emails and other stuff

The only gripe I have is that the speaker isn't as good as the ones the 6P, but they did add noticeable size. I haven't found anything else to complain about yet.

+1. Plus apple is using their in house made silicon, which is blazingly fast, so got that to contend with.

so far I am getting used to the phone. The finger print on the back is taking time. Funny because as of 2 months ago I used a g4. and loved the back buttons. I guess i still had double tap. So from the N7 i miss the front home button and 2 other buttons on the bottom. I am still reaching for those. I dont notice the chin but will say that not having the buttons build into the chin I do notice the smaller screan when those buttons are taking up screen space.
I wish the fingerprint scanner could also be the home button. Just seems to make sense if you are putting it on the back.

My biggest grip has to be signal strenth. Which I expected to be one of the strongest features. not sure if I just have a dud.

I'm not really liking the finger scanner on the back either, but atleast it wakes and unlocks the phone when the screen is off. I would much rather have the home button like the sammy's and iPhone. The bezel is certainly big enough.

The battery percent unlock is kind of pathetic. The numbers are tiny and it seems like a really dated way of displaying the battery percent.

No way to "kill all active apps"? Seems like a feature I would use on my Note often. Now you have to kill them one by one. Apple?

The keyboard features are kind of locked down. Certain features only work with certain apps. Example: Gifs only work in the Google messenger app? Lame. Why no Hangouts support?

I like the weather widget, but let me move it or remove it if I want. Again, Apple?

I'm sure I'll find more little things I will miss about the Note :)

You can kill all active Apps at once. Hit the square to view all active apps and scroll to the top "Clear All" is there. Not the best place for it though in my opinion. Should have put it on the bottom.

One gripe is that there's no raise to wake function which I'm pretty sure the Nexus 6p had.

I'm assuming they removed this because many users (myself included) complained about it. Raise to wake never worked reliably in my experience and it meant a lot of chances for accidental wakes when you were just handling the phone so I always turned it off. I know a lot of other 6p users did the same.

I wish Google could just take back moto display. It is so perfect.

I am unimpressed with the Pixel and will be returning it. This was my first choice after being forced out of my Note 7 that I loved. I looked past it not having an SD card, I looked past it not being water/dust proof, the smaller screen and the smaller battery. Gave gave it a try and after 24hrs Verizon can have it back.
I don't like the bare bones android, I saw spoiled with TouchWiz, the cell service is absolutely horrible! I use to spend literally hrs a day talking on my Note from my office, now I cant even dial out. Then today the final straw, the bluetooth will not connect to my car, it connected to my wifes car and my BT headset but not to my F-ing daily driver.
I will back back on my Note 6 before the end of the day.
