What are YOUR impressions of the Pixel 3/3 XL?

Re: whats the big deal

Enter the new pixel 3 phones and almost the same as the pixel 2 phones. Sorry but I don't see the big deal. So for $900 you can get a mid range phone with average specs complete with the best camera of any cell phone. Now that is definately open to opinion. Also what use is the best camera in the world if you can't see what you are taking because the screen isn't bright enough. There isn't even a head phones socket. Cmon stop this fan boy nonsense. There are way better phones out there.

This isn't iMore.

Re: whats the big deal

You can quickly tell someone doesn't know what they are talking about when they only look at specs

"can't see what you're taking because the screen isn't bright enough".

wait what? The screen is much improved on the P3.

Re: whats the big deal

You'd never see me in LG,Sony, or ones I don't have phone for those forums just wouldn't make sense .

I know right. The reasons these forums, or any forum for that matter, exist is because people own what the forum is dedicated to or are interested in it. They want to learn more about them, or help others to learn more about them. Doing anything to disrupt that is pointless and merely serves to annoy.

I totally agree with you

Read the Ars Technica review today. Man he ripped the physical hardware design. On one hand, I get it and I'm kind of with him. On the other, eh, I am ok with a little bit of top and bottom bezel.

I'm still on the fence with the Pixel 3. I love the size but IDK, I do kind of feel like the hardware is lacking a bit for the price, yet other than a bigger battery and headphone jack IDK what else I'd want.

I held a Note 9 again today. Man that thing is stupid big. Volume buttons on the other side, stupid bixby button below it. I think I am going to need to see the OP 6T before I decide what to do. However there's a part of me leaning towards the V40.

Re: whats the big deal

Personally, I've never seen the point of these posts. Why go into a forum for something you're not interested in to tell other people why they're wrong in choosing what they did?

Because they are completely lacking any self-esteem is the only thing I can deduce. :D

At this point I've probably spent close to 2 hours playing with the 3 XL in the stores. I've gone from a notch hater to actually liking what the notch does for me.

On Thursday I get to start living with it!

Be careful. Some would call you a fanboy or apologist for liking the design. Lol. Enjoy your phone. I look forward to receiving mine as well whenever they get to shipping mine. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I said that I liked what the notch does for me. At no time did I say that I liked the notch. That's an important distinction!

I was a hater too and I haven't spent nearly as much time with the phones but I'm pretty sure I'll get over the notch.

So I finally had a chance to look at (and fondle) the Pixel 3 XL today.

I really really like the in hand feel much better than last year Pixel. I know there are pros and cons to glass back phones and tons of opinions either way. This is my opinion.

Using both the Pixel 3xl and the 2xl side by side I get it now. I understand why Pixel 2 owners are upgrading. On paper it doesn't seem like much but if I had the 2xl I would be upgrading myself.

Nice phone

Having the iPhone X and have used the iPhone max the notch is no big deal. I loved my pixel 2 xl! I’m waiting to see it in person. The only downside to the reviews I have read so far is the video recording...audio still poor :( ugh why google why? Otherwise pictures look good, but imo the iPhone max is a close second beside low light. It just depends your preference and what you use your phone for. I can’t justifying almost $1000 for a camera that is then a phone but damn it is tempting ah ha!!

Got mine in today. Haven't powered it up because I am waiting for case and glass tomorrow before putting it into use. But one thing I can say is I was thing the glass would ruin the feeling, making it feel too light, making it feel cheap, it something like that.

But nope it feels the best in the hand out of any phone I have handled. Kind of sad I'll be hiding in a case.

Oddly enough I like glass backed phones and I work construction lol.

All the pics I've seen if the 3 XL look so similar to the 2 XL. Really was a let down because I thought the 2 XL felt cheap. After holding the 3 XL I have to admit it's right there with the V40 for me as possible next device.

Almost everything about this phone is what I wanted from the Pixel this year. I've never owned a pixel, it has always been Galaxy's since the S4.

Software looks amazing
Still a great camera
Wireless Charging
Google Assistant baked in

Unfortunately, 2 things kill it for me. The price and the 4GB of RAM. The price will eventually come down, but there is nothing we can do about the RAM. I've read that most people don't think the RAM will be an issue, and I agree with them with the phone in its current state. However, 1-1/2 years later I think there will be issues as the software continues to evolve and use more resources. There were videos posted of Pixel 2XL's having stuttering/lag issues and I don't know if that was RAM related or not, but it certainly concerns me. With the price they're charging, they could have added more RAM to 'future proof' the device.

For that reason this will be a skip for me and I will either continue with my S6, get an S9 or Note 9. I really wanted to get a pixel, but will have to see what they come up with next year.

The Galaxy S9 only has 4GB of RAM, so you wouldn't be in any better shape in that department. And unless you get a deal or get it used, the base price is the same on Verizon ($799 for 64FB).
