What are YOUR impressions of the Pixel 3/3 XL?

Pro's

Better Camera (not a camera guy).
Specs top rate accept memory. But I question if 6GB is used at all on phones that have it.
Great screen. This is key.
Form Factor. People think it's bland. I go the other way. It's not showy. It's what I want a phone trying to be phone to look like instead of making it look like an art piece like the slippery Galaxies
IP68 rating. I have never dunked my phones. But I want mine to not die the one time it does happen
Front speaker. People can be indifferent to this. But I have have had a Nexus 6 and using a Pixel XL. You can't dissuade me on from how much better front pointing dual speakers sound. No more cupping my hands under the phone trying to amplify that one speaker and trying to get the sound to point back to me.
Wireless charging. People who haven't used it don't really have a good feel for how nice it is. Specially at work where you might be walking away from your desk on several occassions. It's great for always being topped off so if you are in a position where you can't charge (like going to the bar, crashing at a friends, and leaving once the hangover is managable) your phone will last.
OS. The almost clean OS maybe be boring to some who don't customize their phones and use it like an Iphone or a Samsung with their app drawer. But the buttery smooth optimized Android is better than we ever imagined with the Nexus line and exactly what I wanted all along on my Android phones before it.

Cons.
Notch hate the notch. I don't like the ideas of pictures overlaying a dead area.
Price. Phones are getting up there and escalating fast. Haven't confirmed it but apparently there is an Iphone configuration that is $1500? This is getting a bit out of hand quickly. A phone shouldn't cost as much as a gaming laptop. Getting the 3XL 128GB because it's what I need and it's the best a being what I want my phone to be. But they are closing in on pricing themselves out of a customer in me in the future. Realistically I think they highest spec products should top out as a whole at $1k and this should be about a $900 phone not a 1k phone.
Glass back. Personally I like the look, feel, weight, even thickness of my PXL. I want wireless charging though. So this and the notch get a pass. But I will always perfer a nice weighty metal shell over glass and plastic. Even if it was Nokia plastic.

As a whole a great phone and when I found out about the dual speakers my hatred of the notch died down. People can debate what the proper screen layout should look like, But if a chin, notch, and glass back are what Google required to get me those speakers and wireless charging then in my book its a good move.

You're right about wireless charging being convenient, however it's not as big an advantage when you have rapid charging.
I had one of the first phones that had it but a couple of years ago I bought phones without it for various reasons and didn't miss it because of rapid charging. Now I'll have both but I hate glass backed phones. Fortunately the Pixel's back has a matte finish so it at least won't be a fingerprint magnet.

So I currently have the Note 9. I had a few minutes so I stopped by the Verizon store today to check out the new Pixels. I liked them both. Someone must have activated the developer option on the Xls because neither of the displays had a notch. They looked really good and get good in the hand. The 3XL felt slender Ike the 9+. The regular Pixel felt extremely one handable. I might try the regular Pixel once I see some reviews about how the battery life is.

Another great thing about the gloss skin - no fingerprints. Matte I assume would act the same.

Personally I only am a fan of rapid charging accept if I am really really drained. But keeping it charged at work and overnight can be done without quick/rapid charging.

In the end it's mostly a nice extra feature for the lazy. Takes extra effort to charge my phone if I have to plug it in. Meaning at work I leave and it's at 60%. Could be at 100.

I don't understand the appeal of "wireless" charging at all. It's obviously not wireless, as you have a wire coming out the back of a large base which is taking up room on your night table or desk. It's slower. And how hard is it to stick a plug in a hole especially now (with usb-c) that you can't try and realize "oops, it's upside down."

Yes one is easy takes no aim at all and can be done with one hand. The other does not. Speed isn't important if it takes no effort.

It is very convenient is the appeal. Of course the charging mat or pad has to be wired, but being able to just plop your phone down on something and have it start charging is pretty handy.

If you charge more often than once per day then wireless charging is pretty handy, but if one charges once a day and thats all one needs then wireless charging is meh and I'd rather trade that feature for a non glass backside.

I felt the exact same thing until I went all in on it. It's hard to explain the feeling of freedom wireless charging gives you. It's 100% not necessary in any way, but believe me, it's a (nice) thing.

As much as I love Google and the Pixel brand, after seeing the 3 and 3 XL, I think I'll stick with my 2 XL for a bit longer. Make no mistake, I wouldn't shy away from a 3 XL handed to me, but overall I didn't really feel the changes announced merited dropping the kind of money being asked for what would, to me, be a marginal upgrade from 2 XL.

how I'm feeling about my 2.

We will get no offers or deals here.

When next to my Note 9, it's in the same league as an OP6 et al.
It's simply not a £969 device. Missing too many features. Still looks very cheap.

Screen looks better than the 2 though, which is not hard.

Always been interested in one. But won't be until it can compete with a real flagship.

I’m seriously considering a Note 9, they are on sale on T-Mobile’s site right now.

My only impression is the pricing of the smaller Pixel at $799. That is just...insane. I have bought the Pixel 1 and Pixel 2 and will not be buying the 3. Enough is enough with contributing to the greediness of corporate America. Honestly it was bad enough paying $650 (although I have been utilizing the T Mobile $325 credit so I got it for $325). A 23% increase is tough to swallow and I was truly stunned seeing that price bump.

probably the only way I'm upgrading is if T-Mobile does that promo again.

For me, I am upgrading from the first Pixel. I was torn between the 2 or 3, but wanted to wait for the announcement. After seeing everything,I decided to get the 3 in basic black.

In regards to the topic, I think this is a good device for someone like me, who hasn't upgraded in a while. If you already had the 2, I can completely understand waiting for the 4.

kind of where I'm at. I'd love the improvements to the 3 but can't justify the price.

I've had each small Pixel since they began. It's hard to describe, to someone who hasn't had one, just how good the total experience of the phone is. This is a no BS phone. It's fast and light. If you are on the fence, order it and use it for a couple of weeks and you will probably keep it.

Wireless charging sometimes takes a little lining up to connect depending on the device and charger.

You've never been in a situation when you wanted to both use and charge your phone at the same time? I'm doing that right now as I'm typing this with a 6 ft cord. That seems kinda hard to do when docked, no?
