What did you guys think about the HTC One (M8) compared to the Nexus 5?

Yeah... not sure about that... it'd be twice the cost and not a lot to show for it other than a fancy suit.

Still, the important part is that the M8 can come in a stock Android version. Google is not limiting stock Android to just the Nexus line. If anything, Google is adding more phones to the Play store for people to choose.

Do stock Android devices get their updates at the same time as Nexus devices?

While 400ppi+ is plenty IMO, the "real" threshold for not seeing pixels for the human eye is somewhere above 600 or 700ppi. So if you want a true pixelless display, it needs to be in that range or higher.

I would agree. It really goes beyond just noticing individual pixels. I think people will perceive a difference between 400 PPI and 700 PPI, even if they can't quite put their finger on why they see a difference. At the very least, we should wait until actual devices are on the market and see them in person before making a judgment on them.

Hey, was wondering if someone could help me out. I want to buy a new phone and have basically narrowed it down to either the nexus 5 or the htc one m8. I like the fast updates, minimalists look and feel, performance and of course, the small price Tag of the n5. But then again, I'm kinda interested in the htc one m8. I really like its build quality and boomsound speakers. I don't really care about camera and battery life(at least a day of moderate usage). So can anyone tell me which would be better and any cons of both and if the htc is worth the extra 200 euro. Thanks!

Do stock Android devices get their updates at the same time as Nexus devices?
Nope.

In theory they should get them faster than normal versions. But Google does not update GPE devices...the vendors still have to do that. If you buy a GPE Galaxy S5, Samsung is the one in charge of delivering your updates (and you will still have the carrier in the loop as well). Since the vendor UI pollution is not there, they should be able to get the update to you quicker. But whether or not they do depends entirely on the vendors, not Google.
