What happens if I return my damaged device a couple days after the 10 days?

I got a replacement iPhone X and I couldn't return the damaged one within the first 10 days of getting the new one because I was travelling. Will I be billed a penalty because of this? I am mailing it tomorrow.

You'd need to contact Apple or whatever company you're dealing with for the replacement to find out if they'll give you some leeway.
