Android Central Question

There is a download as Auto update: Backups inside my downloads. But in my Download directory I couldn't find any files with that timestamp.

Any idea what could this be?

While we are asking questions....

Which phone?
Which version of android?
Which carrier?
Where are you seeing this "Auto update: Backups" setting?

Hi,

I'm the original poster. Sorry I posted through a guest account.

My phone is Poco F1. Android 10. MIUI 11.0.6.0.

Let me give some more details.

There seems to be a system app as Backups in MIUI. I found there was an update for that app under System apps updater. It looks like MIUI has downloaded the update and kept somewhere.

But I'm not sure where this app is used. Could anyone give more details?

I believe your phone has a feature that auto-updates system apps. The Backups app is a system app that handles backups (what else?:p), and I think that top screenshot is just a notification telling you that the System Apps Updater has an available update, and the bottom screenshot is the System Apps Updater itself, showing you that an update is available for the Backups app.

What the Backups app backs up and where it backs up to depends on how they designed it. I'm guessing it uses the Mi Cloud:
