What is up with the Galaxy S5 Voice compatibility with Android Auto?

Re: Galaxy S5 Voice compatibility with Android Auto

I see that google has updated their android auto site saying Sprint and Verizon S5 are still not compatible with Android Auto. I agree with the other people that the S6 is "iCrap" so I went ahead and bought the LG G4 which does work with Android Auto. I am tired of waiting for a fix for the Verizon and Sprint S5 to work with Android Auto. It has taken WAY too long and I am concerned they will never fix it now.

I have a Verizon S5 and I did a bench test on the AVH-4100NEX yesterday. The voice commands seemed to work no problem and I was able to voice search and voice text. The issue I had was the unit froze up a few times and unlike the online demos, Android Auto didn't launch automatically. It seemed I had to physically launch the app on my phone. I was really hoping this unit was going to work like demos I've seen online.

I wanted one of the Pioneer units since it could do voice navigation/searches and also I could reply to text messages without using my car's "canned" replies. The salesman showed me a Kenwood unit that you can voice text with but you didn't get any notification that you have a new incoming text.

Are there any head units that can receive texts, read them, send text from voice and read them back before sending? That, plus navigation is really what I'm looking for.

One car audio store near me swears by the Clarion NX605 but I've never tested it. It has "Intelligent Voice by Google" which must be something that Clarion has the rights to and no other stereo manufacturer. Any help at this point would be appreciated.

On the pioneer head units, there is an option to have Android Auto automatically start when connected. That option may not have been turned on.

Android Auto launch automatically was on. It was just weird. The only thing I could say is that I was in a garage of a store and the Wi-Fi was pretty crappy.

After the last updates, mine works on my S5. Sometimes it acts weird, but I think its just my phone glitching

The only thing that I can can get to work with Android Auto is thew HDMI and blue tooth for the phone have Pioneer NEX4100 . Car Toys has been working on it and after discussions with different people it appears the trouble is with Android. They are supposedly aware of the situation and no expectations of a time frame for a fix. It doesn't matter what carrier you are on. Have done all the updates on phone and stereo and have run with debugging on still no luck. Damn frustrating to spend the money on the stereo and not have it work. Actually starting to debate a new phone, which I hate the idea of bcause I love my S5.
