What kind of buttons are these, and why do they look like this? (See screenshots)

I got my Incredible about two weeks ago and haven't changed anything except using LauncherPro instead of Sense. I've seen these buttons (highlighted in red in the screenshots) used for selection of a single item or as "enabled" or "disabled", but they just don't look right. Especially in Astrid, they don't look like they do in the screenshots from the market...what are these buttons called (they're not radio buttons or checkboxes, so I'm assuming they have a name)? Does this happen to anyone else?
For some reason, the button in JuicePlotter looks fine, and none of the buttons look any different based on orientation.

well teh astrid buttons are the priority buttons for the todo you are making. they have been there for as long as i have been using astrid. 6 months i would say

I found the answer in the Android documentation, they are simply "Toggle buttons": http://developer.android.com/reference/android/widget/ToggleButton.html

Still, the green part on them looks wrong compared to what they're supposed to look like (see attached image) for some reason.
