What phone are you going from to the G4?

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

Sold the Turbo and using the S5 for now. Waiting on price specs now for the Red Devil. I see the G4 a tad better than the S6 - better display, bigger battery, appears to have a faster and better camera (jury is still out), offers a removable battery and MicroSD (although those don't matter to me) and with their circle case you can get wireless charging (at least I think I read that right). I do like the S6 but not happy with the battery life people are reporting. My wife has an S6 and loves it so that's all that matters.

And that tan leather back......won't leave fingerprints! :D

Don't know what you mean by a few of the things there.

It has a 3,000mah battery, so it should be pretty good, or at least better than my current S6. It has NFC so my banking app will be able to do wireless payment without issue (as I'm currently doing with my S6 despite no Samsung Pay), so no problem there. I thought the UI looks snappy and faster than the S6. Especially in this hands on video by Android Authority. At 2:30 you can see him press the camera app on both the G4 and S6 Edge and the G4 fires up the camera substantially faster than the S6 Edge.

I believe the Snapdragon 808 is rapid charge available, so I don't have a problem there, but hopefully the large battery means I won't have to charge it as soon as my S6.

And as you mentioned, the camera looks great. Will have to wait for proper reviews and more hands on to see how it stands up, but the G4 is really swaying me to sell my S6.

It has a larger screen, a less efficient CPU, less efficient RAM, and less efficient storage. That all factors in to needing that larger battery.

Wait.....where is my battery juice pack? Oh, never mind. Lemme just swap the battery.

Veryt good response back, I must say.

Probably will trade in my non flagship M9 and use the G4/gs6edge.

Assuming I have an upgrade available, I'd be coming from the OnePlus One to the G4.

I really liked the G3 when I had that :)

I doubt you'll need to. If they even did a halfway decent job optimizing their software, it should be enough to get a days use out of it. I think this may be the year where LG leapfrogs HTC as the contender to Samsung in the Android world. I'd buy a G4 over an M9 any day.

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

I'm coming from a Samsung Alias 2 flip phone..... I know, it's about time. While I'm super excited for the upgrade I will miss getting 4-5 days out of every battery charge : /

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

Coming from the Droid Turbo. Camera was simply awful. I had the Maxx before the Turbo and ended up going back to the Maxx just to get usable pictures. So I am ready to give the G4 a shot!

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

You know LG has a double tap camera feature as well right?

Moto x 2014 I love this phone but the plan was to get it to hold over til g4 came out and I've been patiently waiting.

Moto X 2014

Agreed! Love the X but the battery is trash! Can't wait for that camera!

Are you suggesting the type of RAM and speed of storage affects battery life?

It's hard to tell how it will perform but I can't see it being worse than the S6. Physics and all that, plus LG stating they optimised the processor with Qualcomm and were working on this for 2 years. Everything points to a very good battery.

Personally, still preferring the S6 because the G4 is a phablet. I don't think I could get used to the size. The swappable battery and SD card, and leather back are awesome though. Why did it have to be a monstrous 5.5". I also prefer capacitive buttons and a physical home key. Those LG on screen buttons take up a lot of space unless you're watching video. in some shots the screen almost looks square because the big black bar pops up at the bottom.

Memory and storage efficiency does affect battery life. I would have to imagine the battery life would be better than the S6, but it's also a bigger phone. I'd also be optimistic that Lollipop 5.1 would be enough to quell the issues some S6 owners are having with battery life. Fortunately, by the time the G4 is released, the S6 may see that 5.1 update.

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

You guys are forgetting that the G3 came without wireless charging out of the box as well but did have the option to make it with LG (quick circle case) and 3rd party manufacturers. Also, LG's stock charger is 1.8A while quick charge is 2.0A so its NOT bad (or slow) at charging quickly. My G3 charges from 13% to 100% in about 50 to 60 minutes. The only problem the G3 had was an under performing CPU thanks to the QHD screen. The 808 was made to run QHD screens and more than likely LG has optimized it to run efficiently this time around. I'm willing to bet that it'll run BETTER (more efficient) than the S6!

The performance aspect I think won't be an issue with the G4 just like it isn't with the S6. LG worked with snapdragon to have the 808 run the phone just like Samsung made their processor to work with theirs. I doubt any person would be able to use the phones side by side and notice a huge difference.. if any :).

Agreed that both these devices will run well and efficiently but the G4 has the 'edge' (pun intended, lol :D) here due to that 3000mah battery! ;)

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

From the Note 2 -- I was going to get the G3, but the upgrade costs on my contract were inhibitive. Oddly, though, I'm considering buying the G4 outright, no contract; I'm tired of being beholden to Robelus (the 3 Canadian carriers).

I highly doubt 5.1 will be to the S6 by June.

The G3 has a 5.5 inch display and it actually feels decent in the hand. I'd certainly give it a feel before you write it off.
