What phone are you going from to the G4?

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

I highly doubt 5.1 will be to the S6 by June.

Considering the issues 5.0, 5.0.1, and 5.0.2 have caused, I wouldn't be surprised to see it sooner rather than later. Especially if companies like LG can ship with it already.

My wife and I will both be switching from HTC One M7's. This will be in part to a way better camera experience. Getting tired of the purple hue around every single one of my low light photos.

I'm coming in from a Note 4. While I love the Note series, I am really digging that new camera on the G4, as well as the leather back. I can't wait to change!

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

Agreed that both these devices will run well and efficiently but the G4 has the 'edge' (pun intended, lol :D) here due to that 3000mah battery! ;)

Spec wise sure -- actual use wise? Depends on the person.

I have a nexus 6 got it after Verizon LG g3 had calling issue. It's nice but still have upgrade do I can get G4

I doubt you'll need to. If they even did a halfway decent job optimizing their software, it should be enough to get a days use out of it. I think this may be the year where LG leapfrogs HTC as the contender to Samsung in the Android world. I'd buy a G4 over an M9 any day.

not sure it'll last a whole day for heavier users. I'd have loved if they threw a 3500+ in there, but I'm content.

no doubt it's better than the m9 IMO. the masses care about aesthetics, camera, and battery. some will argue the m9 has it beat in aesthetics, personally I think the design is stale and just can't get over that hideous black bar (which I'd sacrifice "boom sound" for). the battery and especially camera has it beat. I can't speak to UX until I get one in my hand, though I suspect the m9 wins that battle.

I'd throw nova on top of both, so not to concerned. it'll be interesting to see what HTC does with the m10 and if windows ever gets devs to work on apps, I'd love to give that a try. whatever your flavor, great year to be in the market.

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

Since I already fell off the G3 bandwagon to an iPhone 6+, I'm serisouly considering the G4. I do like my 6+ though...

Are you suggesting the type of RAM and speed of storage affects battery life?

It's hard to tell how it will perform but I can't see it being worse than the S6. Physics and all that, plus LG stating they optimised the processor with Qualcomm and were working on this for 2 years. Everything points to a very good battery.

Personally, still preferring the S6 because the G4 is a phablet. I don't think I could get used to the size. The swappable battery and SD card, and leather back are awesome though. Why did it have to be a monstrous 5.5". I also prefer capacitive buttons and a physical home key. Those LG on screen buttons take up a lot of space unless you're watching video. in some shots the screen almost looks square because the big black bar pops up at the bottom.

memory does have an affect on battery, not as much as display, but definitely a big factor

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

LG's stock charger is 1.8A while quick charge is 2.0A so its NOT bad (or slow) at charging quickly. My G3 charges from 13% to 100% in about 50 to 60 minutes.

interesting, didn't know that

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

I doubt any person would be able to use the phones side by side and notice a huge difference.. if any :).

that's why I don't pay much attention to specs ... look at what iPhone gets out of that tiny battery.

gsmarena arena tested the processors and the S6 came out ahead by a pretty large margin, despite LG's claims.

again, that's on paper, real world I don't think it's noticeable.

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

I'm on the S6, but its battery is just painful, and the software although better is kind of unco. Seriously considering the G4, but really all I want is a brand new version of the nexus 5. If LG can just redo the Nexus5 with latest camera and battery that would be amazing.

dreaming of electric sheep

Really? I'm getting a full day of hard use with the S6 Edge.

IPhone 6 isn't powering QHD or an eight core processor. This helps use less battery.

Going from a 2013 Moto X - but my upgrade date isn't until this fall, and we may be getting close to having a Note 5 out by then, so I may wait to see what Sammy comes out with for that :)

That's what I don't understand. New devices can have 5.1 but yet it takes forever to get it to already released devices. I understand the carriers have approve it and add whatever extra stuff they want but if the current version has quirks, make it a priority and get it out to the end users.

Re: What phone as you going from to the G4?

I bet the S6 holds its value better. Better built device.

If it does, it won't be by much. I keep my devices about 6 months then on to something else. I tend to sell mine just below fair market to sell it quick.

It will because it has a better build quality and a stronger customer base. Just the nature of business.

I'll be coming from a G3. I'm hoping the batteries are the same as I have extras.

I can praise this phone all I want but like all my previous toys regardless of how much I love it I will sell it and upgrade.
