What phone did you come from and why?

I had a Droid Turbo with Verizon, but they were charging me $85 a month (and only 1GB of data!). I returned to Boost and got a deal on the Samsung Galaxy S3 (paid $100) and a $50 a month plan - with 10GB of data. Nuff said....

I came from a Droid Turbo, which is itself an incredible phone. The LG G4 is incredible too. I'd say both have their strengths (G4 has better camera, screen, screen size; Turbo has bigger battery, Moto display, near pure Android), but you can't go wrong with either phone.

From a LG G3. ;) Had the Samsung Galaxy S5 before that and the LG G2 before that.

The G2 took me away from the iPhone. It was the first android I found that had the speed and smoothness of the (then) Apple software. I fell in love with the back buttons. When I was using the S5, I was forever turning it off or on unintentionally when trying to adjust the volume. I didn't keep it long. I'm just a phone junkie and have to have the new stuff. Thus the reason I upgraded after like 6-7 months to the G4 when the G3 was perfectly fine!

I have to say tho, that the battery on the G4 seems to be a step up from the G3. And the only issues I have with the G4 is BT connectivity to my car. For some reason it just stops connecting to it. /shrug

Yeah, the LG Optimus G (the first in the G series and what the Nexus 4 was based off of) was enough to pull me away from my iPhone 4. Haven't looked back. After that, on to the Nexus 5 and now my G4. Love this phone.

Previous phone was a rooted Nexus 4 running CyanogenMod. It worked (works) fine still, but started running sluggishly due to the limitations of the hardware. After recently getting into photography, the manual mode and SD card option sold me on the G4 and I am pretty impressed up to yet. Only had it a week though.

Hey gendo, my bad on the SUPER later response but if you're still interested these are my thoughts:

- Size - for a phone with a 5.5" screen, I'd say it a small big phone especially compared to the S4
- Performance - feels like a super computer compared to the S4
- Screen is MUCH better in sunlight and brighter (took me a day or two to get used to LCD compared to the Super AMOLED though)
- Camera - Absolutely phenomenal! I'm sure you've heard that before though
- UI - Lg's UI is better than Touchwiz....but I use Nova
- Battery Life - I can Easily go through a full day with approx 20% still left
- Buttons - on screen buttons and power/volume buttons on the back are more "natural"
- and of course the Removable battery and microSD card are what sold me
- If you have an Exchange account, the built in mail app is miles above the S4's

I hope this wasn't too late....I can answer more questions if you'd like

Well, how do you feel about the device? Do you like it? I'd like to know, what with you coming from a GS4 and all.

I was trying out the iPhone (5, dropped it in a lake, switched to 5S) for the first time. It did what I needed it to, but that was all there was to it. I didn't care much for it because I feel like I can get a lot more out of an Android. At the same time, I (thought I was) getting shafted by AT&T's bills and had Sprint pay off my contract. My plan was to try out LG followed by Samsung, like I had already tried HTC (Inspire 4G) and the iPhone at the time. I'm excited to switch to Samsung. I feel like I'm saving the best for last.

I came over from Windows Phone (Lumia 830).

As for why...A bunch of reasons, really. But, primarily I wasn't excited about the 950s (price played a factor: too pricey in Canada) nor did I have any confidence left for app ecosystem or the OS as a whole going forward. Which is a shame, as I do love Windows Phone, all things considered, but it was time to move on.

As for choosing the G4...pretty simple: Available, Flagship, good reviews, and a good price. It had everything I wanted in "my" phone...most others did not. Still learning to work with Android and this phone, but so far I'm enjoying the experience.

I have to preface this that I am a total cell phone junkie. I've tried everything under the sun, iPhone 6s, Note 5, S6, V10, Nexus 6, etc.

My last phone before this was the V10. I got in on the promo with the free 200gb sd card, so made out there. The phone was good but the battery life was horrendous and being on the go a lot, I needed something with better battery life.

Here comes the G4. One phone I had not tried before. I have to say, it's the best to date. Battery life is superb and actually performs much better than the V10. No hiccups or lag on it. The screen is beautiful and can actually use it with one hand. Best phone I have used to date and will be keeping this one for sure (until the G5 comes out....)

just ordered my G4, I'm excited about it. The camera and SD slot are what enticed me to it, expandable memory a must now a days.

I'm coming from an iPhone 5s. The last Android I used properly was a midrange, Ice Cream Sandwich-era Samsung. This should be fun learning curve, lol. :D

Came from a 5S as well, though the last Android I used was the HTC Thunderbolt. I think that was on Froyo. Not sure I ever got the Gingerbread update before I switched over to Apple and refused to go back to Android for a long, long time. Verizon ****ed us over with that phone. Such a piece of ****. Haha.

Camera, SD, and removable battery were the selling points on the G4 though. For me.

The learning curve wasn't too too bad. If you're a bit of a techie, then you should be quick to learn. I'm always learning though.

Blackberry Z10. It broke and decided it was time to switch to a different OS (I've never owned a smartphone other than Blackberry). It's taken some getting used to, but I like the fact that if I don't like something, it can be customized to something that I do. I miss the Blackberry 10 keyboard (best ever), and have yet to find anything that compares (Fleksy is close). I chose the G4 because of the camera and the button placement on the back.

came from a Galaxy S5 ... because I lost that phone in Italy (don't ask). While in Italy I bought the G4 off Amazon and had it shipped to a friend in the USA who then FedEx'd to me in Italy. It was held up in customs for over a week before I got it, and had to pay Italian VAT on top. To say the least it was a VERY expensive purchase.

Came time to upgrade and remove the Blackberry Q10 from the daily driver and since Blackberry is pushing android with the priv rather look at what other android devices we're on the market. The LG G4 has everything my Q10 offered plus more and the only downside was no keyboard but the rest of the features like SD card and removable battery makes up for no physical keyboard.

I was wanting to hold out for the G5 but with the price from T-mobile after Thanksgiving I couldn't say no and had to upgrade!

There's an APK for the blackberry keyboard...I have it running on my G4 now. Works great too. Here it is here jzShgKQ3

After reading your comment I was able to find the .apk and successfully install it. Life is good. Thanks!
