What phone did you come from and why?

Coming from and S4 with buggy Bluetooth, issues with battery life (partly due to still suing the original battery after 1.5 years I guess), and random freezes that could not be pinpointed not any app, and could not be fixed by rooting and debloating. As I was deciding on installing another ROM on it, the price drop for the G4 on TMO came along, so I decided to get my first timely flagship, as i have been a late adopter of phones for a while now.

The G4 is excellent so far, after a week of heavy use. I am hoping for many happy miles with it...

I switched from HTC's One m8 a few weeks ago. I was on the market for a new phone. I've always been interested in LG's line but never had one til now. The m8 is an OK phone but I wanted a better camera and the look and feel of the G4 sold me right away. The expandable storage and spare battery w/ charger that came with was a delightful bonus.

I came from iPhone 4S. I ditch IOS because I was fed up with Apple not letting choose what I want as a default app/apps. Moving over to Android was the BEST choose I have ever made (I wish I had done it years ago).

Galaxy Alpha, it was a little beast and liked the Alpha better than the S5 I had before, but the G4 is on another level. It is the perfect phone for me. I'm glad I was hesitant on picking up an M9, once the G4 specs were released, I knew I was going to LG for the first time and I have been more than satisfied.

Came from a blackberry Z30. Truthfully it's an awesome phone, minus the app gap. The battery was a beast on that phone exchange and the hub is one of those things that you think you can't live without. But you don't know if your an app guy until you get a flagship phone and realize that you can utilize a lot of the apps to make your day go smoother. Now that I have the G4, I love it... I'm getting g on average 4+ hours of SOT and about 16hrs until the next charge. So to say the least, I'm very happy camper with this photo

Nexus 5.

I actually liked the Nexus 5, it was just time to upgrade.

This would be my second Android phone.

I'm actually tempted to get a new Nexus 5 (or maybe even 6) as a kick-around that I could put ROMs on. Everyone speaks highly of them.

HTC Rezound. I have been meaning to update for months, but didn't see anything I really had ot have and other than worrying about security due to lack of patches/updates, the phone generally worked great. On my last business trip though, it was starting to chug under heavy loads and I decided I needed to start really looking harder and maybe accept some compromises.
To my dismay, I found that nearly all the major manufacturers have gone over to the "wanna be iphone" camp and started locking out users from being able to replace the battery or update the storage. The G4 was one of the very few phones that met my list of requirements.

I came from an HTC 8X running Windows Phone, which was my first smartphone. I really like the WinPhone OS. The 8X has a very clean, sleek design.

However that design us flawed. touch screen is very exposed; I'm glad I had the protection plan because the glass cracked about 4 times in 2 years, and only one was an honest-to-goodness drop. They others.... it just cracked for no apparent reason. Also, the volume and camera buttons are flush on the edge of the phone. After two years I still couldn't push those buttons by feel, I had to look.

Like I said, I liked the OS, but the lack of apps was a deal-breaker. Everywhere I saw a sign that said "download our app!" it never included WinPhone. I managed to find apps to do whatever I wanted, but sometimes had to settle for second-best - no Strava to record bicycle rides; had to settle for endomondo, which was okay, but everyone else is on Strava. American Airlines had a sweet app that let me easily get boarding passes, but then they discontinued it. I got a Fiat and they have an app, but not for Windows. You get the idea.

I decided that when I got a new phone I'd try Android. If I don't miss WinPhone, I'll probably stay with Android; otherwise I may go back to WinPhone next time around. Supposedly when WinPhone 10 comes out it will be able to use Android apps. But until then, apps are still the deal breaker.

This week I missed some texts from my wife because the MMS got messed up on the 8X and it was time for something new. I chose an LG G3 and it arrived today, but after reading about the G4 here I decided to take it back and go with the G4.

Same here. When it came out, the Rezound was a solid phone. But it's been many years now and I kept holding off trying to squeeze every last ounce of it. This last year was the worst. Wasn't getting good reception anymore despite living in silicon valley. Any kind of internet browsing lagged, well actually everything lagged. There were times when I was wondering if the phone was just going to just go dead on me. Started looking for a new phone about two months ago. Was extremely close to buying an s6 at full price, like I had it in my shopping cart online and was filling out the billing info, but I didn't pull the trigger because of the reviews I saw on T-Mobile's website. Soon I heard that there was a new phone coming out that would surprisingly challenge the s6's awesome camera. I was convinced once I saw how well the G4 did against the S6 in night shot tests. Also, didn't like how Samsung was following Apple's model of price gouging. So I switched carriers to T-Mobile (also very happy with that decision) and went with the G4. I wish I waited a little longer so I could've gotten the leather back+extra battery promotion instead of the sd card+extra battery one, but oh well, no biggie since I use a case right now anyway. Loving this phone so far.

I'm still using the Rezound's earbuds which are still working good. I wish more phone manufacturers would focus on the audio side of smartphones.

I'm coming from an S5 Active. I was really plan on buying the S6 Active which I figure is near the top of all premium phones. It doesn't suffer from the same battery issues as the other S6's. Anyway, it occurred to me that one of the reasons I upgrade so often (really) is to have something new and different to try out. The S6 Active is just to close to the S5 Active and the other S6's just weren't doing it for me so then I started looking around. Honestly, after MUCH deliberation, I decided that the G4 was by far the next best option and it has more memory, removable battery, expandable memory and a completely different look. Once I got in the store, it was like I just knew. So far, I haven't found anything to make me regret my decision. Obviously there's some getting used to after having had several Samsung phones but that's fine. I love learning new things anyway. Can't wait to try out all the other features such as the camera.

Nexus 5 and I wanted a phone that supported T-Mobile's new 700 Mhz Band 12. Also, I wanted a camera with a faster focus than the Nexus 5 since I couldn't get the grandkids to stop moving long enough to get a great picture with the Nexus 5. Still love the Nexus 5 BTW as a mini tablet.

Like the damned "back" button being on the opposite side of the phone? Agh! I can't believe that's not standardized. Great avatar, BTW.

Fortunately, you can re-arrange the buttons on the G4 to place them where you want. Matching the Samsung layout, if that's your preference.

I came from a Galaxy, but I gave the LG button layout a try, and I'm used to it now.

Nexus 5

Loved it the first year but it's been kinda driving me crazy since Lollipop update. Major memory hog since then, plus the battery has gone from decent to crappy.

Not blown away by the LG G4 yet but it's a solid device that I got for a pretty good deal. Looking forward to getting the extra battery and a memory card to store ALL my massive music collection on (in essence making it also a replacement for my 160 GB iPod Classic that died last winter).

I came from a Turbo which places the back button in the same place as the G4, but before then I was in the Sammy world, so all of my frustrations, and retaining occurred before I came to the G4, lol. Now that I've retrained myself on the prior phone (capacitive buttons), I just keep the default layout.

Yah, took a bit getting used to that back button but hey, at least we have one (Apple???). I see myself as kind of that Marcie type from Peanuts and I made my best friend start using Peppermint Patty. Seemed like a no brainer. I've just added a Moto 360 watch to the mix and am very pleased with it. That was more of a learning curve because it isn't very intuitive and the manual pretty much sucks but I'm getting used to it all now so I'm quite happy with it and my new G4. Glad I listened to my instincts. :D
