Hey everybody. Umm... I've had my Optimus S for about 3 1/2 years, and I think it's about time to get something to replace it. I was thinking something not TOO big, but can fit in a pocket, has to be QWERTY slideout, and Android 2.3 or later. Thanks for your help. O:-)

That might be a pretty tall order. Android 4.1 should be easy to find, if not 4.2. A physical keyboard is going to be the hard part.
I would suggest being open minded about that part as more and more consumers are shifting to an onscreen keypad. This opens up more options in phones like the LG G2 (looking forward to that phone) or the Moto X.

I finally had to bite the bullet and upgrade my phone. My OptiS on HydroROM is still awesome, but apps are getting larger and ones I use all the time like Handcent are just being automatically closed (memory or something), so services are not running (always restarting) so I miss texts, etc....

Had a "i'm a tired, older phone" reboot while using navigation the other night that sealed the "okay, time to upgrade" envelope... exit ramp closed due to accident with injury, late at night, had to get off at exit you kinda don' wanna get off at late at night... and as it was rerouting the phone rebooted.

But, it will serve as an awesome wifi-only geocaching device, Pandora player, etc..

such an amazing dev community for the Optimus S/V

I ended up with the Samsung Galaxy Victory, as it was small enough to not be a BIG PHONE (sorry Galaxy II,3,4,HTC ONE,etc.), yet has a powerful processor and other goodies. It's rootable, has TWRP, and there's a small but steady dev or two for it working on getting CM ported at bare minimum.
