What S20 Ultra Camera App version fixes focus issues?

re: Camera Update

You're telling me those two of the SD card closeup aren't macro shots? Surely if that isn't good enough then no smartphone will be good enough. I offered a definite solution to the photo you provided having a problem with the blurring and the same shot would come out perfectly clear and detailed just like my two shots of the SD card. The thing wrong with the phone in close up shots I think is the lens size is larger. But it's possible to get just as good of close up shots as past phones using my method, here's a pic I just took of a common tape measure:
Sorry for the confusion, I meant that the shots *I* was taking were not macro shots (you did reply to my post).

So we're talking about to different uses of the phone's camera.

re: Camera Update

I made a quick video to show what I'm experiencing because it seems it varies from person to person. I'm using the same barcode because high contrasting lines are the easiest for modern auto-focus systems. The distance from the lens to the subject is about five inches, so outside of a distance that would be considered a macro and has been no issue with several other phones.

At the start of the video, it's "mostly" in focus but it's not nearly as sharp as it should be. Then towards the end when tapping to tell it where it focus, it does snap in briefly then goes back to hunting. Something is wrong.

Macro/closeup, I have a habit of using those terms interchangeably. :p

Hmmm. Interesting. I'll have to see if I have a box with a similar bar code to try at a later time. I'm just out of time today to play with the cam.

re: Camera Update

FWIW I still have the auto focus issues after camera update, struggling sometimes to lock on objects both on camera and video mode. I guess it's not that big of a deal since in my tests I'm constantly taking the object in and out of focus which might not be real world scenario. I'll have to test in general use if I run into problems because of this.
So it's not happening under normal use?

re: Camera Update

All my AT&T devices received monthly updates as well as the vast majority of people. But you're not alone with an AT&T device that didn't receive monthly updates. A few others have reported that issue as well.

It's maddening to those of us who have this problem!

I had the same darn issue trying to take a picture of a barcode with my S20 Ultra (not updated). I ended using my S10+ to get a focused picture of it.

Camera focusing after this update is vastly improved. :)

Received my update today. And the focus on my phone is pretty s**t.

Update! Decided to reset the setting in the camera app to see if that will help. The focus seems to be working as per update.
Still undecided if I'm returning my S20 plus. If I do. Be what do. What 5g phone do I replace it with.

What 5g phone do I replace it with.

Why worry about having 5G?

A) LTE can stream 4k video, I do it all the time, what more demanding downloading are you doing to require more network performance?

B) My 5G speeds are consistently much slower than my LTE speeds! Like 4x slower! And I tested in multiple towns/locations. 5G is a joke.

C) Even unlimited data plans can impose throttling after a certain amount of usage is achieved. What good is all the speed in the world when you can be throttled and limited and just hit those limits quicker?

5G is in it's infancy beta stage. Phone upgrades come quick for most people. You'll be at least three phone upgrades in the future before 5G is as fine tuned as LTE is now. I wouldn't make 5G a worry at all for this phone generation just like I wouldn't make raytracing a requirement this gen for a pc graphics card purchase.

re: Camera Update

jus reading that the Note10 and S10 will get an update that will give them some of the S20 camera featues along with One UI 2.1, this is great bcuz alot of people were saying the camera on the 10 lines were "better" so now with the ability to do "one take", "nigh hyper-lapse", "AR emoji", "Pro Video" this is going to bring a greater debate with the cameras between last years and this years line up. the 10 Line people should be very happy now.

re: Camera Update

Yes. Mine did too. And this is in addition to the update that was pushed after receiving the phone.

Camera app got a software bump too.
What is the camera app version and the baseband version after the update?

This happens with a lot releases. You should be happy the 10 series is getting some software features from the 20 and not worry about a debate between the two.

I've seen many reports that Samsung is rolling out a fix to the camera app that fixes the focus issues on the S20 Ultra. "The update is first going to Exynos based phones and maybe rolling out to Snapdragon based phones in the US. But I have not seen anyone report what version of the camera app fixes these issues.

To those who have received an update to their S20 Ultra camera app that fixed the focus issues, what is the version of the camera app that fixed your focus issues? Also, does your phone have an Exynos or Qualcomm Snapdragon processor?

The update is out for both.
