What the HTC One has that the G2 does not

I think this is a great phone, but so is the One and I like the history of HTC. I'm trying to see if I should wait and get it or go ahead and pop for the One.

Coming from a DNA it would be nice to have a larger display with the G2 rather than a smaller one with the HTC. But other than that I can't see what else would pull me away from the One.
The 'Guest Mode' and other software items are either irrelevant to my usage or available from a third party and the One's 32GB starting point will really help, whereas the G2 only has 16 (I've had to constantly make more room on my 16GB DNA.)
The low light camera on the One will be nice, too.
I think the larger screen size will eat up the battery size difference - I know how my current phone drains the juice when the screen is on.

What am I missing? any thoughts? Thanks.

The 800 Snapdragon supports some pretty nice features. LTE advance and along with the screen in the G2 will not have to refresh anything on the screen that doesn't change. A feature which should enhance battery life. The thing I like most about the 800 is it supports up to a 75% increase in charging speed. That will be nice!

It also has USB 3.0(Not sure how many of us would use that) Supports 7.1 and 4K.

This is pretty much the soc we want to have in our next phone. I hope the rumors of the Nexus 5 are true and its got the 800 in it. The developers are going to be able make some awfully nice custom ROMs with its feature set.

I think the G2's camera will out do the HTC ones...Its going to pretty good in low light, but in good light will do as well as the GS4. Best of both worlds.

I had a bottom of the barrel LG Optimus S I received for free... it was far from great but I loved it. From what I've been reading LG has a great track record for CDMA (Sprint & VZ) Antenna performance also the previous LG Optimus G had great reviews. Its going to be amazing for Sprint Customers with its TriBand LTE and the fact that its an IPS display is huge.

If you are thinking of getting a One get it now before Verizon gets the bootloader patched and blocks root and custom recovery. I had the DE on AT&T, its a great device, awesome sound and if Verizon was actually going to offer a 64GB version at launch I would have considered it on Verizon, but as usual they aren't so I'm not.

thanks for the link. I checked out the mfg sites also, but do we know if the device coming to Verizon is going to have different specs? i just saw where it will have wireless charging that's not mentioned on the comparison sites.

Well Verizon locked the barn door, so the HTC One is no longer unlockable via the HTC Dev Tool, now you have to wait for the developers to get around the bootloader. What a PITA.

The One also has "rich recording" from HAAC microphones. However, due to a court hearing in Amsterdam, I am not sure if any of the new HTC One has the microphones since Nokia has exclusive access for a certain amount of months.

Personally I agree with that statement, but I can see the slightly improved battery life, boomsound and low light camera (though Im not sure its significantly better than the DNA cam in day to day use) having some appeal if the OP has an upgrade and money to burn. Remember this country relies heavily on consumers spending money so buy buy buy! ;-)

Actually, it's not a new type of screen, it's a new type of graphic ram (hence the name GRAM) that allows your device to not have to refresh the screen when it's not changing. It was stated that this should increase your device on time by about 10%.

Comparing the G2 to the HTC One, the G2 has a much bigger battery, and both cameras have OIS (optical image stabilization) but the G2 also has a 13 MP camera that is good in good lighting as well as dim lighting compared to the One which has a 4 MP camera who's day shots aren't very good.

In general your comparing a 6 month old device to a brand new one. The only advantages I can see on the One are that it is prettier than the G2 and it has Boom Sound.

I just read another article on the display feature you mentioned. Very interesting - seems to work well except for gamers, which I am not.

This device is starting to remind me of a slick politician: saying all the right things to all the right people, but no one has seen him in action to know if it's true or expose the dark side...

Its also worth stating that the 'not very good' daylight pictures from the One are still better than 99% of other phone cameras out there.

Maybe if you include the abundance of cheap android smartphones . But if you only are looking at the high end smartphones , the One's camera outside is better then none of them
