What was your previous phone? Do you like the Nexus 5 more or less? Why?

I'm happy and this is probably the best Android phone I've owned, but I want something even better and I'm looking forward to what Moto X+1 (or X2) will bring.

I'm always frustrated by the poor signal/GPS lock of the Nexus 5 and its weak speakers when using the GPS. For comparison, my previous phone, the HTC One (M7) had insanely good signal strength under the same provider (Tmo) and was great with GPS lock, too. And the speakers were fantastic. Of course, the Nexus 5 is better in other areas.

Also, the random battery issues with the Nexus 5, though rare, get really tiresome.

Really hoping the next iteration of the Moto X delivers. That should hold me until the Silver program is up and running.

New user here and I came from Apple world. 4S was my last phone and after 2.5 years it started show its age. I wanted a faster phone with bigger screen and got a red Nexus 5.

After a weekend of using it here are my observations.

What I really like:
  • speed, speed and speed
  • screen size is perfect
  • form factor, the phone feels much nicer in hand. I never liked the design of iPhone 4/5. 3GS was much better.
  • ability to choose default applications. This rules!
  • multi-tasking, one major reason I made the switch. 4S just didn't have enough memory for this.
  • camera. I was worried about this, but the camera turned out to be good enough for me
  • chrome browser (I just wish there was a bookmark button, instead of tapping settings - bookmarks)
  • very good integration with Google services. I knew this, but was still surprised. For example Photo app showed my Picasa albums with no additional configuration. Nice!
  • NFC

Mixed bag:
  • Notifications. I like the way Android handles these, but the same time I really wish I could see a bit more info in lock screen with only the press of the power button. I do miss the feature from iOS that I can see from who the messages are instead of only message count. Maybe there's a solution for this, but I have not found it yet.
  • photo management. Had to install an app just to create a new album/folder. But at the same time I like all the editing options available in stock photo app.
  • dialer. I'm just so used to iOS version, and it really is very well thought out.

What I don't like in N5:
  • speaker is really bad compared to 4S. N5 Sounds like a $2 toy.

What I miss from iPhone:
  • iMessage and Facetime. And I do miss them a lot, super convenient.
  • Airplay, as my amp has the feature. Might get the chromecast
  • settings available from lock screen, including the flash light which I actually used :-) I found an app for this, but it wasn't smooth at all so removed it.
  • tap top of screen to jump to the top of page. It's so handy, I want it! Maybe an app for this one too..
  • no counters in icons (number of messages, number of daily events). I was just so used to them. As I understand they are available in other launchers, but I'm not ready to go there yet.
  • edit:one minor more - flash SMS does not wake up screen and is not visible on lock sceen.

When the iPhone 6 comes out with a bigger screen I will get it. Then I'll have the big decision to make. But for now N5 suits me just fine. And as I'm still learning Android, please let me know of any solutions/apps to my "problems" mentioned :)

I came from the original Droid Incredible. I kept it as long as I did because around the time of my upgrade time, I was buying a house so didn't have enough for a new phone. Then I held on to it to keep my unlimited data. Then when the Nexus 5 came out, I knew I could get it for a decent price off contract. Switched to T Mobile and couldn't be happier. Comparing the two phones is like night and day. Very very happy with my Nexus 5. I like all of the new features (at least to me) that came with Android 4.0 and above. The only thing that I don't like about it is that you can't turn the camera shutter sound off. Other than that, it has been a great phone so far!

I'm not all that into upgrades and stuff. But my previous fone was the LG Optimus V.Great fone once I understood how to use it to the fullest.Unrooted.I called it my Bentley.Did EVERYTHING any other fone could do.But eyes arent wat they used to be so I recently (AUG./2015) got a Galaxy Victory. Not bad at all.Haven't taken many flicks yet,but we'll see in another month or so.
