What will it take to get you interested in a Pixel 4/4XL?

I agree on some , some things mentioned won't come back to devices, and some stuff you got me confused.

Look at the parts inside a phone.
Tell me they are worth what we pay for them.

The parts are just a small part of the cost. For starters, look at how many parts they cram into these things. Do you think you could design that? I couldn't. I majored in drafting in college, which included a course in printed circuit board design. To this day, that was the most mentally taxing thing I ever tried and you couldn't pay me enough to do that for a living.

Once you do figure out what components to use and where to place them, now you have to program everything to work together. You can't just slap the bare bones OS into it and expect it all to work. Then you are still expected to support it for a couple years with continual software development at no additional charge.

Then you have all the "freebies" manufacturers throw in, like rebates, cloud storage, accessories, etc. All that free stuff has to be paid for somehow.

Just because a phone may have little personal value to you doesn't mean that it's not worth the cost to others.

Honestly if it just has a really good camera and really good battery life, I’d be good. I want more but those 2 are key for me.

If you think it's that cheap and easy, feel free to start up your own company and design a flagship phone that you're willing to sell at a fraction of the cost. You'll make billions!

And when your company does take off, you'll get some lovely overheads in the form of advertising (that alone can chat millions), increased regulatory compliance, taxes, being attacked from all sides on numerous issues, retaining a team of lawyers to make sure you're not violating patents or copyrights and to represent you when you're inevitably sued, and then try to put some into a rainy day fund to cover you during economic downturns or when some employee tries to retaliate with false accusations because you fired them after they were caught stealing.

It's apparent you don't know what all goes into running a company. I'm sure I'm missing at least a hundred other issues as well in that list that increases prices.

Pixel 4 64GB - $749
Pixel 4 128GB - $799 - Only $50 more.
Pixel 4 256GB - $899 - Or $150 more, which is a good deal if you think about it. You're getting 192GB more from the base model.

Same idea for the XL at $100 bucks more each:

Pixel 4 XL 64GB - $849
Pixel 4 XL 128GB - $899
Pixel 4 XL 256GB - $999

Most folks like using their hand on the phone

Don't care for gestures either.

Don't care for google assistant.

I just use O.K. google

A lot of the things should of been a software update.

Not just things in a new phone.

Just can't get excited about it for what they want for a upgrade.

Seems google didn't even try again this year.

Google Assistant is OK Google so can you hate one and like the other? Are you you referring to squeezing to activate GA?

I plan on getting the P4 XL. While I like your dream price, I don't see a price drop on the phone.

That is not a deal in the slightest.

With the Note 10, it's only $100 to go from 256 -> 512GB and that's for UFS 3.0 storage.

For the OnePlus 7 Pro, it's only $30 for 2 extra GB of RAM AND to go from 128 -> 256 GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

A deal, for the older UFS 2.1 storage which is what the P4 series will have, would be more like $10 for 64 -> 128 and $20 for 128 -> 256
