What will it take to get you interested in a Pixel 4/4XL?

I know I've asked this question before here in AC but exactly what do hotcakes sell like? I don't even know where I could find hotcakes.

They sell like really quickly, especially when paired with hot cross buns.

I am still interested in Google Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 4' battery is only 2800mAh, I think Pixel 4XL is better.
The 4XL has a 3700mah battery. And, this is for my usage mind you, it meets my needs. I don't need 10 hours a day of SOT on a full charge... When did excessively high usage become 'normal usage' anyhow. I think I managed to hit close to 7 hours, but that was on a weekend when I didn't have crap to do and spent the evening playing around in my new phone.

Now that the dust has settled, I've settled into normalcy... 2 to 5+ hours of screen time a day, depending on what I'm doing when I wind down at night, and while I could do with one charge a day, I'm a 'charge early, charge often' person and I strive to never leave the house without at least something close to full.

I agree with you. Excessively high usage should not be "normal" by any means. I'm about an average user so my SOT/battery life has always been more than feasible with my last few phones of varying mAh's - Honor 8, Pixel 2, and now S10.

Usually phones users can find themselves near wall outlets and so charging when you need to is often seamless. I charge in the morning while I'm getting ready for work.

Now, of course everyone's mileage may vary and many users truly do need a phone with a big battery and phones that are capable of giving them a long SOT. This is just my personal experience.

I’m torn, still have my 4xl love the software, the camera is good but not leaps and bounds better than most and arguably the iPhone now has the edge.

Having to mange storage is a little annoying and I do prefer the look and feel of my iPhone and s10 plus (ceramic)

Then again that software is very nice......

Totally agree with you. I am finding my 4XL to be very reasonable with regards to battery, better than my 2XL which was pretty good.

Did you get a 64Gb? I can't understand what people have on their device that would eat up that much space. I did buy a 128gb, but still using just a portion of that

Well we are all different when it comes to storage. It depends on what you're into. Some have lots of apps, some store everything and never delete. Audiophiles store hi-res files. Some store 4K video. I can give you more examples but I don't think it's necessary. I can't understand why someone wants a 1TB phone phone but there is a slight demand by some.

I agree with much you said. I will note, that with the 'influencers, youtubers, vloggers, creater types', they really need the large data and good video. I think Google misses out on those people, and their free advertising of using Google products. They all use iphones. Younger crowd follows them, buys everything they do, and Google never breaks through as the "it" phone. The sheep continue to buy the iphones.

That's something that bothered me... What we need isn't always what we're told we need.

The tech press has been pushing this nonsense that anything less than 128G might as well be junk... No space!

That's wrong. I'd wager that the vast majority of the public would do perfectly well with a paltry 64G. I had a 64G 2XL and I don't think I ever pushed it passed 50 used. Not everyone needs to carry around a 30G music library, or hours worth of downloaded/cached videos. And anyone dragging 50G's worth of apps and app data probably hasn't touched most of those apps in months.

Bah, anything that can't take 4K 60fps video might as well be an old flip phone!

Bull... 4k60 is great, but anything 4k is a nightmare to actually DO something with. At 400Mb/minute a minute, yes 400Mb, 4k60 is a monster. Want to edit it? That be fun times... Share it? Directly, good luck with that. And anything online will cut that sucker down to a mere fraction of the size and quality. Not everyone is creating content for their monetized YouTube channel and taking hours of slow panning shots while new age jazz plays in the background. Fact is that even though it's being shoved down our throats, we're not ready for consumer 4K video becoming the norm and we won't be ready for several years.

And with mobile data caps still so prominent, most people would burn their monthly cap watching a single 4k movie.... If your fortunate to even have a plan that will allow you to stream a 4k video in the first place. All for an improvement in quality that is nearly undetectable on a 5 or 6 inch screen.

If a Tesla Model S showed up in my driveway, I'd be ecstatic... But if 10 million hit the roads in a flash, it would be a disaster. Why? The public charging infrastructure isn't anywhere near ready. It would be 70's gas lines all over again.

Went on a bit of a rant there...

They need to drop the price for the 4xl before I would ever purchase one. Google has overpriced this years model for what you get and what else is out there.

Would more storage not bring a better price on the phone when you trade it in.
You talk about what you need.
What does the next person in line get, who buys a used phone.
Or do you keep your old phones ?

No, more storage does not always mean more on trade ins. As an example, Pixel 3 and 3XL no matter what size storage had the same value on trade for Note 10. You might get a few bucks more selling it.
