The right answer is 'sort of'. It used a 'native' google maps app; it was very good to look things up with, but it wasn't turn by turn / self re-routing etc. Not really a nav package, more of a 'map' package.
There are some very good nav apps for iPhone - probably better than for Android in fact - but then you start paying $$, and many of them are $$ / month. Android's nav package is killer on a midrange to high end phone. I will say I've seen the Android nav package 'slaughter' weaker / cheap single core 600-800mhz android phones, but if you've got a halfway decent phone it is truly a killer app that few know about.
Tasker is another really awesome app for those that want to exploit the customization ability of the Android platform and go beyond just widgets and launchers. There is nothing like Tasker for iOS, and unless they open up the OS more there never will be.
