I don't really understand why this is a huge deal, having a Netflix app preloaded onto the Bionic... you'd still need a subscription to it, correct?

Yes you would still need a subscription. Netflix is great though. You gets tons of content to stream unlimited for only $8 a month. Granted I wish Netflix had newer content but I have seen their catalog improve over time. I don't even have cable currently because of Netflix.

Of course, but with the ability to stream HD Netflix out the HDMI port to an HDTV this phone would be awesome.

I just read an article recently saying a new phone that coming out is going to come with either 3 or 6 free months of netflix.

I don't remember the details

I dont understand why everyone is excited about it either considering tiered data. Of course everyone will scream wifi but guess what, ISP's are going tiered too in less than a year from what im told so then what will everyone say?

A lot of people were grandfathered in with their unlimited data plans.

What about tiered :) .... I still have my unlimited and it will be amazing to use my netflix subscription everywhere I go instead of being tied to my xbox/laptop to use it. Long wait in line, watch an episode of a favorite TV show; Long car ride, catch up on some movies......

Get the plan with the higher, most GB's if you wanna use Netflix? It sucks with tiered plans but thats about all I can say...lol

Folks that are new customers or switch plans (?) are the ones effected by this. I would hope they understand this when choosing data plans.

T Mobile is doing it right IMO with their new plans. After you go over whatever GB your plans is they throttle you. And their plans are a lil better for the price.

Can't wait to hear all these people crying in year when they are forced to switch to tiered.

You do realize that Verizon said current customers could keep unlimited data just for now. Eventually everyone is going to be required to switch.

ya you can keep it for now, but not forever buddy.

from Verizon - ?EXISTING CUSTOMERS- That currently have the unlimited data WILL BE ABLE TO UPGRADE AND KEEP the unlimited data feature (No known end date on this as of this moment).

maybe you get to keep it for 2 years, but don't expect to have it forever is what I'm saying.

Don't you think tiered data will progress like cell minutes did a decade ago? I now get 700 minutes for what I used to pay for 30.

Oh I never planned it to be forever but by then lord knows where my next Base will be and which carrier is the powerhouse there. I will ride the Unlimited train until it derails.

I see no point for going crazy over Netflix. The streaming selection is limited. When i had it i still had to go elsewhere to find exactly what i wanted.
I guess it's cool...for all you law abiding citizens. [echo]HAHAHAHAHA!!![/echo]

It's just a cool feature to have. Currently a lot of the television shows and movies only stream in 360p, which doesn't even fill up the screen on my OG Droid. Streaming in 1080p + HDMI out is great. If you don't use Netflix, it's not special, obviously.

We might not have unlimited data in 2014 so let's not get too interested in products like Netflix right now.

yeah, I don't understand how my unlimited data possibly ending one day means that netflix isn't cool now. I'm loving it, and I don't have HDMI out yet. It makes a difference that I don't have TV or wifi at our new house yet. It's been a savior.

Why can't you wait for it? Are you promoting the demise of unlimited data? This doesn't seem like something worth supporting.

Anything is possible, but what makes you so sure that it will change? Besides they can't force you into anything. You make it sound like Verizon letting you keep your unlimited plan for as long as you remain a customer isn't a possibility. I've spoken to people who've been with Verizon for 10 years. They have unlimited minute and data plans that don't even exist anymore and have never once been told or "forced" to change their plans when upgrading to a new phone. When they purchased a new phone and renewed their contract it simply locked them into the plan for a new time period.

I feel that if Verizon were to play that card they would lose a lot of customers. I know personally if that were to happen and they told me that I have to switch to a tiered plan, I'd smile and politely tell them that I'd like to cancel my service and I'd take my business elsewhere. Of course who knows if their will be any carriers offering unlimited plans to new customers a couple of years down the road. Time will tell I suppose.
