What's wrong with the LG g2?

Some place I read that ultimate resolution is not quite as good when the devise has OIS. I don't know why that would be, and I can't remember where I read that. has that been your experience, or do you notice anything?

Nexus 7 owner here. No experience with the HTC One. I do know that DSLR lenses have a switch to deactivate OIS when on a tripod. Perhaps if the camera is 'perfectly still', the OIS efforts to add stability add slight movement instead. That was a wild guess, by the way.

From the droid-life quick hands on. It shows that when you pull the notification bar down half the screen is toggles and quick apps. I'm hoping it just shows the possibilities of what you can have and not what you are stuck with. So I'm hoping it is configurable

Having spent time with the optimus g.. Most of LG is even more customizable than Samsung... So I'm sure its what u can do.. Not what ur stuck with

I can't figure out why there would be buttons on the back. They claim most people hold their phones with their index finger on the back of the phone. I don't think that's true but who really knows what most people do? I know I don't and those buttons do not make me want to upgrade from my G to the G2.

I'm waiting for someone to come out with simplicity done well instead of more and more phony "innovations" that no one really needs.

You must not hold your phone like, well, everyone else. Putting the buttons there is an intuitive design choice. As intuitive as putting them on the side, where your thumb will rest.

I remembered it was in Androidcentral podcast #147 @ the 5 minute mark.

Rechecked my source and I misread. That being said I'll take a 13MP camera with OIS over a 4MP camera with OIS anyday. I don't know about you but I like being able to blow up and crop my pictures.

The problem is that the camera sensor pixel size on one is half that of the other. LG did manage to keep them the same size as the G's 8 megapixel unit, but they're still pretty small compared to the One's. Also, unless you're blowing them up massively, the 4 megapixel pictures are just fine for enlarging. (Someone did a project with a panorama they took on their One, and it printed in large format just fine)

No. I don't naturally put my index finger on the back of the phone. I hold it on the sides, below and away from any buttons. Why would anyone need to have their finger on any control button while using the phone?

I'm pretty sure I know which project you're talking about but I think there was some other software trickery going on with that aside from just taking a One and making a panorama. Also I would very much like to be able to take pictures that are frame worthy and a 4MP shooter just cant do that regardless of quality.

All we are saying is to try out the phone at a carrier store when it's released before you dismiss it off hand as some sort of unnecessary gimmick.

Most people, especially with large screen devices, hold them with their thumb on one side, middle/ring/pinky on the other, and index on the middle back. This creates a tripod of sorts with your hand to support the phone.

That is typically how I hold mine as well.

I agree. I'm certainly not dismissing any device. I wouldn't have a drawer full of devices if I did that. Unnecessary gimmicks are not always a bad thing unless they get in the way of comfort and convenience. When I talk on a phone, my first impulse is to make sure my fingers are not going to press anything I don't want pressed. I'm looking forward to experimenting in order to see if my "it'll be in the way" theory is valid.

My only concern is the skin. Really prefer stock Android. So I'll be looking at a custom ROM(When available)Or a Play edition.

I like the buttons in the back and I love the SDragon 800.

I think where you index finger ends up, has more to do with the size of your hands. My fingers all end up around the far side of the phone (GN). Though its not going to take much work to get my index to rest on the buttons. It seems if your hands are smaller your index would end up even closer to the back buttons. I think its a great design.

I like the minimal bezel. The ips screen, the camera, 75% faster charging, huge battery.

Humans have adapted so well, because of our hands(and brains). When my phones became larger and I couldn't easily reach the top with my thumb, I turned the phone in my hand so i was holding the phone face first, with my fingers on the right and my thumb on the left, then easily reached the top of any phone with my index. I then switch back to holding it normally(I'm right handed) Like most things it didn't require any thought or planning...It just came naturally and I have never had trouble adapting swiftly to larger phones and changing buttons. If only my eyes adapted better...My sight gets worse each year...:( So the screens can keep getting bigger as far as I'm concerned.

the button placement looks revolutionary but the OS looks disappointing.

even though I have an upgrade available I might do the Verizon Next and trade my unlimited for 8 gb + mobile hotspot.

Qslide apps and volume bar looks like it doesn't belong there and really clutters the pulldown. Hopefully a custom ROM will fix that. :-P
It just looks so cluttered. It's so stupid the notifications don't start until halfway down. The GS4 is like that. With the second screen in 4.2, we don't even need quick settings, though they are nice. An old version of HTC Sense had a tab at the bottom of the notification shade, it was loaded to the brim with all sorts if settings. Much better than anything anyone is doing now.
