What's your next phone after the V20?

I'm mostly leaning towards keeping my v20. Having a nicer screen and better camera is tempting but i use the ir blaster daily and swap batteries at least once a day. I don't think i can justify losing those two features that greatly affect the way i use my phone for modest improvements elsewhere.

I spent 7 months with the s7 edge and i never did get used to having to plug my phone in. On top of that either due to software updates or battery degradation it went from 6hrs SOT to 4 in that time which made the fixed battery that much more painful.

My phone was draining battery pretty quickly the last few months and got worse after the last update. In had some audio problems and as a last resort did a factory reset. It solved my audio issue and the battery is like brand new again. I've had the month apx. 10 months.

Yea i love the new phone feel of a factory reset. It was routine on any of my Samsung phones since they slowed down so badly after a few months. My s7 edge could've been any number of things though since i had to do two warranty replacements on it in those 7 months i was using it. This had me leaning more towards updated software causing battery issues.

The strange thing about my last update is that the update history claimed that the update didn't install error code 400. The update was in fact installed. Not sure what caused the audio problems. Audio output left channel was a little low and right channel was really bad. I thought I had hardware problem was almost ready to request a repair. Never thought the factory reset would actually work. If I sent it to LG they probably would do a reset before diagnostics...lol

Hmm i wonder if i should try a reset on my v20. The external speaker volume took a dive after the first update i received on T-Mobile. It mentioned something in the changelog about an audio fix and i just figured they borked it. Not sure anybody noticed it here but there was a thread about it on xda.

Could be....it didn't effect my speaker from what I could tell but I don't use that as much. Before the reset I did test the left and right channels with an app. Headphones big difference....speaker right and left sounded the same.

Ahh i didn't catch that you were talking about the wired audio. I noticed the speakers immediately since i was using my phone to play music in my home gym while working out and after the update i had to bring a small sound system in to do the job.

I came from a s7 and was happy with the switch at first, but I'm not loving the v20 as much as I did initially. Don't get me wrong though, I love the cameras, the speed is nice, calls are great and audio is stellar. I'm just not a big phone guy as much as I thought.

The s7 was the perfect size for my daily needs of email, calls, and late night YouTube while the house is asleep. The removable battery is great to know that I have the option, but other than switching the SIM and installing the SD card, I haven't really taken advantage of the replaceable battery yet.

All that being said, I had the opportunity to hold a s8 in Best Buy (without the cable) and loved it. Still a bit bigger than the s7 but compared to the v20 it was a nice change for me. I know I'm in the minority here but hey, I know what I like :) I may consider the Note 8 when it comes out, but I think it will still be too big for my needs, so I'm probably going to go with the s8 if anything at all.

Looking forward to V30, G7, and Note 8. Kinda looking at the S8 Active right now, should be coming soon. What phone will you be getting next? I'll probably be still using the V20 as a backup phone in the future, great since it has removable batteries for vacation trips, and an IR blaster so it could be used as a backup remote controller.

I'm currently going through this forum to see if I want to upgrade from my trusty old Note 4 TO the V20, since it looks like the V20 will be the last phone for a while with a removable battery and other features that are of value to me.

Not judging anyone's choices, I just found it hilarious that there is a discussion about moving away from a phone that I'm looking to move TO that started months before I even looked at it. (grin)

I actually had the V20 on my radar for a while. I liked it when I played with it in stores. I wasn't planning on getting a new phone immediately, but my MXPE didn't leave me any options. Since it was dying, mainly due to the battery, I was convinced the V20 would be great for my needs. I already bought a 2nd battery.

V20 is a great phone....the folks here like to jump every six to 12 months whether they need to or not.

Oh, believe me, I've been on AC for a while and have been one of those folks up until the Note 4. LOL

I thought it was still better than many others available for my needs, and I can't spend $800 or more for a newer phone. Since I buy unlocked phones, I don't get any carrier subsidies or discounts.

Lol hang on to the V20 then.

Sad, but true.

As much as it pains me, I'm probably going with the Note 8 at this point. The V20 has been a letdown for me, and that's counting the fact that my V10 bootlooped and had to be replaced.

Re: Current V20 owners and your future... what will you do next?

Same here and maybe beyond. Replaceabl battery can make it my last one for quite a while.

I will probably be getting the Note 8. If I am going to get a phone with no removable battery, then I will have to go with the best. I really the V20, but the battery life is not good.

If you buy a new phone that has a "non removable battery" .......Who owns who for the phone replacement?? The manufacturer owns your *** and controls you when the battery fails. Time to buy a new phone again? Removable battery's are almost extinct right now. A removable battery in a phone still provides "US" with some power over the manufacturer which has been weakening as time goes by. I love the fact that I can buy a new battery and change it out within 30 seconds or less :D

Try a factory reset if you haven't already....it worked for mine.

If you haven't tried a factory reset I reccomend doing so. I did because of another issue and it worked wonders for battery life.

Before doing a factory reset, try simply wiping your system cache. I know this is possible on Verizon models and has helped my battery life a couple times, but not sure if anyone has found a way to do this on other versions.

I tried that on a Verizon model and it didn't help me but I guess success could vary with the type of issue.
